Everyone I know who watches MMA fights has been disappointed by the UFC lately. There's nothing wrong with a business making money, but Dana White is seeing dollar signs in his head, and the fans are being given inferior product.
Since being sanctioned in Nevada, I've had to witness set-up fights like Arlovski vs Buentello. If you've seen these two before, you would know they weren't anywhere in the same neighborhood as far as fight skill. When I saw 55 being advertised like it was some kind of Clash of the Titans, I knew it was time for me to start betting alot more on UFC fights.
They bank on the fact that a lot of people haven't closely followed UFC to this point, and those who do bet sometimes go on a fighter's record alone(which only tells part of the story), or go with whoever everybody else likes.
Reminds me of the Tito Ortiz/Randy Couture fight where 99% of the celebrities in the audience grinned as they proclaimed Tito to be the greatest. Then, as I expected, Randy embarrased him(and made Tito cry).
I expect to get rich betting on these Tomato-can fights.
