For those of you who don't know... I injured my shoulder in January of 1999... the injury reduced the ROM of my shoulder such as to prevent me from doing squats (could never get my arm behind the bar).

Tonight, on November 17th, 2002... almost 4 years later... I have once again done something i never thought I would ever do again.... Squat.

The Front squat... impervious to the shoulder injury, as it plays no part other than acting as a resting spot for the bar. Tonight... I felt a feeling of awe, that feeling of excitement that only a child knows riding a bicycle for the first time...

I only did 185lbs for around 12 reps on the front squat today... with my ginger knee and first time performing this exercise in almost 4 years... I didn't want to push it. Next time, I will push myself further... I feel 100% confident in my ability to do 225 and higher even the next go around. My knee felt stable and everything was ready, steady, go!

Needless to say, I felt like crying after completing the 7 sets of squats...

But... animals don't cry.

B,

In the past month, I have virtually reinvented my workout...

I first thought I'd never have a shoulder workout with out having destroyed shoulders -- then came the modified hang clean.

I first thought I'd never be able to increase chest strength, because after my dumbbell chest workout, my shoulders would be destroyed, and my shoulders couldn't support any weight higher than 120's -- then came the powerlifter bench style.

I first thought, and for a long time I'd never do squats... with the advent of my recent knee injury, I was at a loss, as leg press, hacks both hurt my knee... -- then came front squat -- no shoulder ROM interference, no knee problem pain.

C-ditty -- things are looking up CITRUS-style! :)

Good Job front squats are great staple of my leg routine, just make sure you rest the bar right and have a good spotter I prefer a cage, The numbers ill go up dramatically, at least for an animal;)

Dude that's frigging awesome. It's great that you have found ways to not work AROUND your weaknesses, but found ways to work THROUGH them (and strenghten them) safely.

that's great bro, I know how you feel, I screwed my back up so bad once I couldnt squat or dead for a year, life didnt have meaning until I was able to do it again...
