Thursday's stink!!!!

I feel your pain man. I used to hate the bench too. But right now im enjoying all of my movements. Mostly because there all progressing.

but i know exactly what your talking about

lying against that soft padded bed, and pushing up a weight with the least muscled part of your body, in a position that dosent occur outside of that movement.

I hear ya,

and ya theres nothin like throwin some weight up over your head to make you feel huge.

Just to add, its pretty funny how so many people relate a strong bench press to functional strength, when all in fact it really means is that you can move a lot of weight up in a straight line. I am a simple man though with simple pleasures and the bench is one of them.

I hate bench, but don't mind it so much these days :)

only with a close grip though, I think wide grip is fairly useless application wise

clint, i'm gonna have to start treating you like i treat everyone else:

cut the shit

hehe. actually i enjoy both equally. it requires a degree of concentration from me that i enjoy. also, sitting UNDER some weight and knowing, that its not coming up unless i move it there is very challenging. it used to be my fear.

same can be said though about a bar sitting on the ground. i get compelled to get it off the ground, either deadlifting it, or cleaning it.....its going up.

I feel the same way B...I just can't get pumped up for benching anymore. Now you put some weight on a barbell place by my feet and say "I bet you can't lift that"...well now im ready to go damnit ;)

This is coming from a man who benches 405. Must be nice to "dislike" bench and put up 4 plates :p

Pretty sure I can triple 405 raw...maybe I'll try here in mid-December.

bench is hard to get fired up, too many people use it as a measure of strength. Just think of it as another tool to help build overall strength, like pushing a tire down once you got it standing. It is a means to an end, don't discount it because you hate it. Being good at is relative, it is progress we strive for...
