I absolutely believe animal cruelty calls for hard time. Hunting, which I'm not crazy about either, is done for animal population control and at least the meat is eaten. Making dogs fight to the death for pleasure is something entirely different.

Yes it is. There is a reason that states have strictly defined hunting seasons and its not because people only want to kill at certain times of the year. It's because that time frame is what's needed to keep the animal population at a reasonable number for that area.

you're putting the cart in front of the horse. . .the activity existed before the regulations were enacted. . .in actuality, the "population control" measures that you refer to are to preserve the resource for future generations of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. . .underpopulation AND overpopulation are both concerns. . .however, at least here in PA, those concerns are established by the sportsmen who, contrary to popular belief, are also conservationists. . .they enjoy the acitivity and want to be able to pass it on to future generations. . .hopefully in better shape than when it was passed on to them. . .they see themselves as stewards of the land. . .the law just responds to what the hunters and the game and fish commissions are telling them. . .

how many RICO charges have been brought against dog fighters? Do you think he would get slapped with a RICO case if he and his buddies were gambling on pool games?
