as has been said here, the dog fighting and accompanying pictures, etc. is what gets the public so very disturbed over this. The real charges that carry the prison time are all the money related charges. The rest is just media hype.

The people who do this on a much MUCH smaller scale don't get prison time until after multiple offenses. Watch Animal Planet's, "Animal Cops" (in whatever city) series sometime.

I think someone should've just killed him and kept all this out of the courts, etc. What a waste of money. No matter how talented he is, he is an ass and he broke many laws. And OJ did it, and Michael Jackson touched those kids inappropriately.

It is partialy. We make laws against behavior we don't like partly because of the emotional toll it takes. For example - homicide - all in all without emotion, it's just one more human being, not much different than a cockaroach being stomped out. But the fact is, that human being dying can take a huge emotional toll on so many peoples lives that they may never fully recover from.

Why would he do time when his court date starts on September 17th? Do you understand how a grand jury works? They have identified 14 girls he had sex with all under the age of 14....not counting Aliyah, who obviously cannot testify in this case for obvious reasons.

Statutes and actual case law are why people like you and I obey the law. Don't do the crime if you cannot handle the time. This is also why we have Federal and State Statutes, to seperate legal issues depending on how severe problems are in certain areas. In LA, Paris gets like a small fine for her first DUI. In Maine, she would have received 48 hours in jail, 90 day license suspension, and about $750 in fines.
