The 1000-lb Leg Press Post.......

What form?

Congrats in any case....

Are we talking a vertical press (you upright) or inverted (you on your back). I'm not sure if it matters because I've heard some machines cheat you of weight by how it moves. In any case, 1,000 lbs is awesome.

I did 800 at one time on a press. I do over 650 for my calves. People can't believe I do that (I suppose fast-twitch has it's advantages) for my size. I've not tried how heavy I could go for leg presses (it's hard on the joints).

Congrats on your PB man.

Now, just work on getting more reps with ten aside, and retest your PB in about two months....you'll be surprised how scary strong legs can get when they're a priority.

Back when I used to do grappling competitively, my old training partner and I blasted our legs heavy and hard for six months straight...never checked for a max, but I got up to 27 (dead fucking serious) reps with ten aside. I am 5ft10in, and was 220lbs at the time....using only one amp of Omnadren every 7 days during the last 5 weeks of that training run.

Having the gym stop to watch is fun, eh?

The only true way to test your leg strength is thru "ass to the grass" barbell squats.

Leg press are fine and do have a purpose in a leg training routine however with extremely heavy wieghts the reps and full motion required for complete full development drop considerably thus inviting unwanted injury.

Always keep the reps at least to six as anything less really serves no purpose other than pumping your ego. Just my opinon.

congrats! be careful, leg presses are good no doubt but, very hard on the knee joints.i am also part of the 1-grand club(for reps 8-10).thought i was doing great til this guy loaded the press w/11 on each side & 9 on top(for reps).i saw both of his knees dislocate.this was after his fifth set & knees were not wraped.
be safe wrap tight!!

holy shit!

today i was watching a show on the fox sports net channel, and it was a show called, "you gotta see this!"
this dude went to squat 780#s and he got about half way down and his fucking right knee SNAPPED and he went down and the weight fuckin hit him on the head!!!

heres the nest part a year later he tried it again lol
but he got it that time

These leg presses have a large variation of success for me. It really depends on the type of machine, where I place my feet, how far the range of motion, and who knows what else. My quads get plenty sore from squats alone and the amount of weight I'm able to lift is same variables as above.

1000 Ibs. kicks ass any way you hack it and its a weight that I'll never attempt. I'm a high rep guy.
