Substitutes for flaxseed oil....

To fill my fat quota per day on Mr. X's CKD diet, I usually end up just adding flaxseed oil to my shakes or drinking it straight.... which is fine. It's horrible, but I can live with it.

Except flaxseed oil is expensive and I'm going through it pretty fast.... like, a bottle every other day.

Can I substitute cheaper oils? Like canola oil or other sorts of vegetable oil? Cheap ones found in the supermarket?

Try Olive Oil, MCT oil, Fish Oil, walnut oil, peanut oil, seasamese-seed oil

I don't like flaxseed oil, so I did a little research on what other types of oils had omega 3s. Flaxseed oil had by far the largest amount, but canola came in second. Next was walnut oil, followed closely by soybean oil. The rest of the oils were primarily omega 6s.

walnut oil is not expensive AND tasty :)

whereas flax seed oil is expensive and tastes like an old ass (though it contains more omega 3s)

Flax seed oil

I hate that shit. I get sick drinking it :(. Daneil, why don't you substitute whole foods for your fat intake? Save yourself some money that way.

Too much time and effort. If I need a meal with 22g of fat and 27g of protein, much easier for me to just take protein powder and drink some oil than search around for real foods and get the ratios right.
