Stiff Lower Back

Lately when I do deadlift (stifflegg round back) I finish my heaviest set and Man my lower back is like really really stiff kinda hurts But goes away shortly after. As soon as I do my weighted situps where I leaner of the side of the bench and go to the floor almost (compressing the back muscles) it alleviates the pain all together. It's not THAT bad but it is a pain none the less. Just wondering if anybody else's back does this or should I lay off the deadlifts for a bit or what?

Leg Routine (Twice a week):
2 sets Squats (FULL) (plus Warm up sets)
1 Set Stifflegged Roundback deadlift (plus wam up sets)
1 Set twisting weighted situps hanging off the bench
1 set weighted regular crunches
2 sets side bends
1 set leg curl
1 set calve raise

Thanks for any help

Without actually experiencing your pain, it's almost impossible to recommend what to do beyond the basics of stretching.

I get what you describe too but I'm confident that mine is just muscles crying for me to ease up on them and so I try to stretch and massage my lower back between sets and after the deadlifts are done. Sometimes I've been reduced to lying on the floor to ease the tension in my lower back. Over time, the condition has lessened for me as I've continued to work the area until now it hardly bothers me unless I've really fatigued it.

Hamstring stretches can often help to ease lower back tension.

I would switch out deads for lunges or front squats since your also training squats on that day or cycle SLDLS w/back squats.
