Starting Strength

I just recieved this book and I finished the first chapter about squats right now. And I must say, this is the best 30 dollar investment I have ever made in my life. I absolutely hate myself for not knowing about this book for the 5 years I have been lifting weights. My squat technique has improved vastly over the past hour of reading this book.

If you do not have it, you are hurting yourself unless Rippitoe is your personnal trainer. Get this book, it is my new Bible.

Just posting this because I was on the edge on whether to buy it or not before last tuesday. I decided what the hell and bought it. And I imagine there are a bunch of other people in the same position as I was.

Well, you can hate yourself a bit less since it's only been out a year or so (no need to blame yourself for 5 years).

Also his new book, Practical Programming, covering the program design just came out. I think it's $20. I've read it and after learning the lifts (Starting Strength) it is the best investment you can make in your training career. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Lots of PDF samples on the site, I think the whole first chapter is there as well as samples from various sections: http://www.practicalprogrammingforstrengthtraining.com/preview.html

Ahh, thought it was a few years old.

And thanks for the tip about his second book, going to buy that as soon as I get to my credit card.

Thanks. :)

Shoot him and email. Nice guy. He'll either send it himself or tell you where to get it depending on what's going to be easiest for you.

When I ordered Practical Programming from the Aasgaard Co. (publisher of SS and PP) their site explicitly mentioned that they now do international shipping, probably in response to the greater-than-expected demand from outside the US. I don't know what their rates are, but you should be able to get it from them.
