sprints twice a day?

i'm cutting right now (started a week ago) and have been easing into a HIIT type program. I am wondering if doing two 10 minute HIIT sessions per day is asking for trouble?

diet is pretty good, 400 pro, 250 carb, 70 fat. I know it really comes down to cals in vs cals out and this puts me in a deecent defecit.

if this is a bad idea, how about one HIIT session, and only light wwalk on the treadmill for 20 minutes? bad too?

I'm not really familiar with HIIT...but the advice I would give you would be to try it out and see how it works for you. Your body will always tell you whether you should reduce or increase the volume...only one way to find out.

no, i don't think 10 minute sessions will hurt you though I would mix it up. maybe do something else thats less impact for one of your sessions.

Per your original question, do you mean double (10 min) sessions of HIIT AM/PM Cardio 7 days a week?

Speaking from personal experience with hardcore Sprinting & HIIT, I don't think it would be a good idea if you are really giving 110% in a HIIT session, let alone be able to go back for more 2 x a day the rest of the week, or at least you shouldn't if you're busting your @$$ hard enough.

I agree with Nate to mix things up ... maybe alternate HIIT (high intensity) with steady state the following day (which could help stretch you out & still feel like you're doing something). Plyo's, running stairs & sprints shredded me up really quick, with alternating days of steady state cardio. It's hard when things aren't accessible outside, is that an option?

How does your training look?

sprints at 85% or greater intensity will drain your CNS faster than anything, twice a day? damn your playing with fire :)

and sooner or later shin splints just might knock on you too....
And maybe a hamstring or calf pull or two....

try circuit intervals - works great

no, I am talking about HIIT PWO and then another evening session. the thing is, I am going pretty hard and am not loosing strength on any lifts, and am not sore or fatigued for that matter.

my training is pretty basic. I squat 3x week, bench 2x, row 2x, and do some chins and shoulder presses and then a couple of accessory lifts. im still doing my fronts with 405 and bench with 385ish.
