So I've been on HRT for 6 months (250mgs of cypionate per week) cause of a 272ng/dl reading after 5 years of doing nothing.

Long story short. Because I am seeing him for 'fertility' he suggested tapering off the cyp the next 2 weeks at 125mgs and then stop altogether.

And for big surprize, wants me on 2,000ius of HCG three times a week for the next 6 weeks.. That sounds crazy! Also, told him I was using arimidex and said he wants me to stop that to while on HCG cycle. Said estrogen wont be a problem with the amount of HCG he is prescribing.

Now, once I have good sperm, my goal is to be above average ng/dl for my age (30yo) and break past 550 no matter what it takes.

One of the studies I have at hand shows treatment with hcg over a 3 week period with dosing done every other day produced the following results...

Sperm count (millions/ml)____baseline: 110_____Placebo: 107_____125IU HCG: 94___250IU HCG: 132___500IU HCG: 111
serum T (nmol/liter)_________baseline: 14.1____placebo: 14.8____125IU HCG: 12.3_250IU HCG: 15.3__500IU HCG: 14.2

So based on those numbers you can see that doubling the dose of HCG actually reduced serum T levels and sperm count when compared to the 250IU HCG group.

His recommendation likely wont hurt but based on this study and other it certainly seems to be overkill. I also dont necessarily see the point in tapering off test, your shut down as hard as your gonna be and dropping to 125MG test a week isnt going to change that. If it were me I would plan a date to stop test and start HCG EOD at 250IU a day starting 3 days after last test injection. Id probably continue adex for 2 weeks after last injection at .5 3x a week, taper to 2x a week for another week and get off it.

At the end of the day its your body and your decision, it wouldnt hurt to ask him what he is basing his recommendation on, ask for studies and proof.

I am FURIOUS WITH HEALTHCARE AND INSURANCE!! I just got back from the pharmacy, and my insurance doesn't cover the HCG script I have. For 3 vials of 10,000 IU's It would cost me over $5,000 FUCKING DOLLARS!!! wow!! If you want to talk about scams, just go to the doctor or a pharmacy, haha.

I am going to follow your advice Zyglamail, and be my own Doc. Thanks! I also have tripotorelin on hand. Should i take 100MCG's of that too?
