Sarge's Lifting Chronicles 2006-2007

Let's not delrail this thread, we can take it to a pm if you like....but the truth of the matter is we don't NEED nearly as many calories as many take in to grow nicely.....a good friend who competes nationally and internationally at 5'10, 205 consumes about 2700 calories off season..........just a thought.

That may be possible for HIM, but with my metabolism, I can barely gain weight eating ~4000-5000 a day. If I skimp and only eat 3 meals a day, the scale starts moving back down.

All I am saying is that's it's very very very uncommon and most take in 10x more cals then they need....plain and simple. 15 cals per lb is PLENTY......Unless, of course, fat gain is of no concern.......No more posts please.....unless initiated by Sarge....I hate when people hyjack (im just as guilty) so let's keep it to pm or start a new thread.....

wtf... my title went MIA  ..fix that in a minute.

I got 2 workouts in...

1 of which I figured would be a "maintenace" lifting session for CGBP, the 2nd was back (no t-bar there) so I G.P'd it up..

ended up "feeling" the CGBP and it went beautifully, so I kept the planned big single in sight... 190x2... then hit 225x1, with 1 or 2 in the tank for sure.

:supercool PR ... broke that mental barrier finally, threw the 2 plates/side on there and pushed the shit out of it. Previous was 215x1 i think. 205 3x3 multi-rep/set is my previous "max"... On the road to 315.

I left at around 216lbs... i'm at 221.0lbs right this minute. Watery as hell, and need good food badly (no more fast food, disgusting).... and hydration. On the road I'm a camel so I don't have to make a million pit stops.

Congrats!

I like how you think about your PRs.

I know you probably just got back and have a lot on your mind, but have you given any thought to moving things around a bit now that you're cleared to squat again? (e.g., working in a second day of squats)

Thank you!

I figure it's the best way to think about it for what I want to accomplish and as it's more of a hobby than pushing to get a certain poundage by "xx-xx-xxxx" date and time, ect. Just a long road, hard work, and good eating while adding a few pounds to the bar every week.

Yes, I have thought about that. And actually threw in some "recovery squats" on my W6D1... which you'll see shortly. Next week and more long term/big picture they'd probably be better suited to be on my Day 2 before back work... what do you think?

Nice job hitting the PR sarge. Welcome back home. :rose:
Thank you *B*

here's my report... :)

Week6 Day1
12.13.2006

hump day in jerz

ATF Squat: Barx10, 95x10

CGBP: Barx10, 115x5, 145x5, 170x5, 190x2, 225x1*, 170x8, 170x6
*Huge PR for me... the brick wall has been taken down

Dips: BWx5, BW+15x5, +20x5

abs: Bwx10, +20x5
GM's: 45x8, 65x10

French Press: 45x8, 60x8, 65x8
... had to use preweighted. and 65x8 was just as hard as 80x8 last time, musta been from the benching... or the bar/different weight set up.

Speed Power Cleans: 155x5, 155x5
Snatch Pulls: 155x8, 185x5

... exhausted, toast, done.

11:00am end of workout.... musta been all the fresh bakery goods fueling me, lol.

Week6 Day2
12.14.2006

Thurs, in jerz.
2:45pm

Hammer Low Row: 90x8, 190x8, 300x8
G.P. Row: 95x6, 135x5, 155x5, 185x5, 205x3*
*holy hardness... I should ease back into these. I think my PR for these is 215x3 or 5... I was surprized my back held out to bang out a triple with 205.
BTN Lat Pull Down: 115x8, 145x8, 160x8
S.A. DB Row: 50x8, 75x5, 85x5, 100x6, 100x5
DB Hammer Curls: 35's for 8, 40's for 8, 45's for 10

Decline abs: BW+10 for 8, x3
hypers: BWx10

Looking back on this... that's a good amount of work.

I felt nice and strong. Could be due to increased sleep and naps. High calories...even if they weren't the healthiest choices, I think I got necessary protein in.

Sounds like a good place for them. You could go a bit lighter or lower-volume then since you're also doing back stuff and make your former "leg day" your heavier/higher-volume squat day.
