Repair and prepare - my journal on the road back to 5x5

I still haven't tried my cap-m-quick kit as I'm waiting for some scale to arrive to measure out my powders. It would save your teeth taking the CEE in gelcaps, though. I quite like the taste of the CEE tablets I got.

The Cap-m-Quik is good stuff...it took me two workouts of unpleasant acid-throated Valsalva Maneuvers to decide it was a necessary complement to bulk CEE. The price difference between commercial capsules and bulk makes home capping the only way to go. Out of curiosity, blut wump, how much do the tablets work out to per gram of CEE?

You can almost touch your nose to your knee, but do you keep your back arched while doing that? :)

For the cost of 500g of CEE tablets, you can get 500g powder and a Cap-M-Quik kit with 1000 capsules and still have money left over.

Cynical Simian, how much CEE powder do you squeeze into a gelcap? I've been thinking a capping kit is a good idea. Is it much hassle to cap your own powder? I read that a 00-sized capsule can hold between 500mg and 1g depending on the contents.

I've just discovered that milk neutralizes the acidic taste of CEE very well. It's perfectly drinkable with little aftertaste. Bingo!

AI - er, probably not, oops! :)

Week 4, Tuesday

Bodyweight: 82.3kg (181lb). Up 1kg since yesterday. It's funny, when my weight goes down, I think "great, less fat" and when it goes up, I think "great, more muscle". :)

1. Pullups
BW x 8 x 3 .................. this is probably a PR, but they weren't pretty

2. Hypers
BW x 3 x 15

3. Reverse hypers
BW x 3 x 15

4. Core work
Curlups, planks, side-bridges, bird-dogs, cobras: 5 x 8 secs each

Comments

Pullups - inspired by the crossfit video the other day :). Actually, I always hold back on these and it's a pain in the ass. I do them hanging from the bar on my bench/squat rack and there's a cross-member in front of my knees that has a thin metal plate that a spotter can stand on. I'm always worried of swinging too much and taking a knee cap off. It'll happen one day.

I got another massive pump in my back from the hypers/reverse hypers. It was like walking round with a built in lumbar support.

blut wump, thanks for the PM. I wasn't really considering CEE tablets as an alternative to bulk (hence "out of curiosity") since capping is working well and I haven't seen them on any American websites anyway.

UrlMighty, you'll get about 700 mg per 00 cap. I don't think it's much of a hassle, especially given the monetary tradeoffs. Once you get used to using the "machine", which is really more of a glorified tray, it'll take you around 15 minutes per batch of 50 caps, so if you set it up and do a few in a row you can have your CEE caps for the next month or so in less than an hour. And there's not really much of an opportunity cost anyway since the alternative would be spending a minute or two each day measuring out uncapped powder.

Haha. Thats weight thing you said is just like how I think.

Dumb Q... when you say BWx8x3, is that BW x 8 reps of 3 sets or the other way around?

Pretty sure it's the standard way (so 8 sets of 3), unless AB adopted Guinness's notation system (and arms and back) for his pull-ups. I think Guinness and I are part of a minority for whom WeightxRepsxSets seems more natural.
