Girl and now you know you're deep into pre-contest mode haha.... I'm still surprised I have a boyfriend, after the shows.
Yeah I think if I had a boyfriend we would be having some major marathon sessions to get rid of the stress/anger that the gym didn't!!!

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Parents suprise attacked me.... So now I have to go study but I'll be back shortly... gotta keep taking breaks.

NOTICE I said parent (S)
Yes, my mom was here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She lost about 50 pound. Still has another 40-50 she could lose but some of it was muscle definitely!! They are both talking about coming to my competition now. Kinda strange actually..... I think it was my mom telling my dad she wanted to go, and my dad was never really into figuring out what I'm doing... Again he says,"Why are you doing this again? What's it for?" Then when I told him everyone was going he said,"People are going to fly over here to see you?" I said,"THANKS DAD!!" went on to say,"It's a meet up... My competition was just good timing for it." He said, "Oh." Wierdo...

My mom said last time I went up to the hospital she thought my arms were looking really nice. Obviously she couldn't talk.
So this could be neat! I told her about everyone on here and she said to tell you all "Thanks" for the prayers. She always asks how Bunny is doing also

That just made my day. Parents are weird when it comes to their kids changing how they look, but when they see the results it will blow their minds & they will get a real look at what your satisfaction with meeting your goals means to you. :)

There really aren't even words for how happy I am for you -- when they finally "get it"....!

I'm very happy for you! YEAH!

My mom didn't "get it" when I said I wanted to join the USMC but when I walked through the front door in dress blues I could tell that she finally "got it" because she started crying.

It's funny because now my kids are the ones who don't understand why I want to get in shape. They are the younger generation and they don't get it. :FRlol:

I'm so happy to hear they might come to your show!!

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Congrats to your mom on the 50 pound weight loss! That really is a great accomplishment. And I'm sure once they see what your competition is like they'll have a much better appreciation of all the sacrifices and hard work that's involved. Best of luck in everything. :rose:

Ex-marine, eh!!! I'm ex Air Force..... You are hard core!
I remember they did the same thing when I left for the military also. When I came back home... they were just like wow you really were ready to be on your own. Then when I was training and raising money for Leukemia and Lymphoma while training for marathons, they were like "Who has Leukemia?"
I'm like "noone I knew before, but now I have met a few children with it so I am raising money for them!" My dad,"Can't you find something better to do, why do you put yourself and body through this?" "You know you have a bad back!!" My mom started getting supportive of me at that point in my life.... She's always supported me in weight training... Kinda interested in it she would eat the same things I do and gives me some good tips.... but she's highly unmotivated to work-out. EXCEPT - NOW :) My dad's buying her a elyptical bike.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

JUNE 12 2006
'MORNING EVERYONE :)
9 WEEKS DOWN 5 weeks to GOooooo
Feeling pretty good today!!
Weight 149.? (cramping like a biatch)
a.m. cardio 60 minutes
p.m. weights (hams, calves, glutes)
p.m. cardio 40 minutes
2 clients
some studying some posing
and a partridge in a pear tree...

Note: I took out all stimulant products yesterday on my day off. No CB, no Trex, and no yohimburn lotion obviously. Had enough energy through the day... and woke up feeling good. 7 hours of sleep last night. Could have used another hour but I'll take it!
Took my 2 CB, and the yohimb again this morning. Made a decision to cut out hot sauce, pickles, sugar-free jell-o, and hot peppers.... not good on the stomach I'll leave it at that. I am holding onto some water I can tell today. I also have not been adding any salt to my food.

Ohhh I spoke with my friend (doctor) and he has some electrical device that he bought 10 years ago. He said that basically you put these headphones on and glasses and so you are listening to ocean waves, trees, etc... At the same time you can change the wave that is being sent into the brain I guess kinda like what a hypnotizer would use. He said that he's going to lend it to me till my show and see if it helps. Said within 15 minutes I should be out and should sleep pretty deeply. Also told me to get back on the melatonin at night. Melatonin has made me very groggy in the past. He said to take a quarter tablet and that should be just fine. So I'm not adding that in until I really have nothing else to turn too. going to start with electrocution first... Or hypnosis... Whatever...
Have a good one :)

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Looking great girl! With another four weeks to go - wowza!! :)

Today is day one of 'offical-back-on-track' for me and the bf. He got up at 5 AM to cook breakfast and lunch before we hit the gym.

Good to hear about your mom too. My own mom used to be so strong, lean, and muscular (I can remember her arm wrestling guys, lol). But now after knee surgeries and lyme's - she's at least 80 lbs overweight. It scares the hell outta me because I never want to grow into weight like that in my late forties! Can you give any details on how your mom dropped the weight?

Thanks lady!
Well 2 years' ago I started helping her lose weight. I had moved back home for a few months while I apartment hunted and during those few months I worked with her. I talked to her about diet and nutrition (got her a GNC card showed her the supplements to buy) and exercising. The first 40 pounds came off because of that over the past two years'. With the recent hospitalization she lost another 10 (unfortunately I know muscle was catabolized).
She is the smallest now that I have seen her since Hmmmmm probably about 13 years or so. Mostly her loss is due to strictly diet. This is with hardly any exercise. She is getting an ellyptical bike though and adding that in and being able to bounce recipe ideas off of each other I think will really benefit her, and me too (she's a good cook). She's really good with the food intake (probably doesn't eat enough), it's the exercise part she has always had trouble with. I think though she is going to do it up this time!!! I also gave my dad some yoga dvd's because when I lived at home he was doing yoga and he even said that was the best he felt. My dad is really active as far as always doing something so weight isn't really an issue. His diet is not the best but he knows moderation and he actually has always leaned towards better food's over junk food. So he is going to start using those. Then maybe after they come to my competition they will listen a bit more to me :)
My mom still wants me to help her with a weight training plan down the road. She was good about doing the stretches I gave her before her surgery.
I'm just excited that even at 53 and everything she has been through that she is still willing to get on track  Recently I had her start taking Coenzyme-Q10 at about 100 mg 3 times a day. Normal person takes about 100mg a day. It has no known toxicity, and will help her with energy levels and getting back to feeling herself.

Hey Treil! Good news about mom. :)

Thanks for the splenda reminder. I guess I'm going to cut that out too very soon. Do you think there's any reason to cut out spices like garlic or pepper? I don't use ones now that have salt, but I wasn't sure about those...

Personally I haven't had any issues with Mrs. Dash or any of the other spices that don't have salt so I will keep them in unless told by my trainer with a good reason that they must go.
Do you know what splenda does? Why people cut it out? I'm only taking it out because it's a chemical substance and I don't want anything jacking with my progress.

She looks like it... still walks slow, and personally this whole thing has really aged her. She is like a 65 year old instead of 53.
We'll get her back to her real age though

I'm sure she'll bounce back. Her body has just been thru some traumatic surgery....not to mention the other unknown happenings. With you as her daughter - I'm sure she'll be back better than ever in no time. You have got to be one hell of an inspiration to her - and I'm sure she'll want to show you she can do it.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

I was going to ask you the same thing. I don't really understand the "food science" behind cutting out things like splenda and other substances. I guess anything that's not completely natural makes can delay your body's progress....maybe because it's too busy processing that crap??

About 1.5 years ago, I gave her some guidelines and sample meal plans and she did great. 30 pounds fell off quickly without exercise. But the weight came back. Now she's joined the gym but doesn't put much effort into it. I know her asthema/breathing and continued knee problems are directly related to the weight. But she doesn't always have the engery to workout. Which could also be directly related to diet. Endless circle... I do want to look at the Coenzyme-Q10.

Nope you are fine
Well the cardio should actually help with the asthma. I have an asthma client also and her breathing has improved since we have been training together. My mom also has asthma, knee issues, every other health issue you can think of...
Check out the Q-10 could help her out! I'll keep you posted on my mom's energy levels once she starts taking it... could be today?!?

JUNE 13 2006
Weight 136.6 Great day energy is good :)
A.m. cardio felt great (60 minutes)
P.M. weights
Back/Ab's
P.M. cardio 40 min.
Last night weights was treacherous to say the least. Weight is decreasing now on my weight days and my legs felt like friggin lead while I was walking. Definitely can tell the difference in physique today!!!!

I'm sick of people who put their emotional and physical insecurities on me. I work My @ss off for what I am doing and those who constantly tell me that I'm so 'SKINNY' and they have to work so hard to even lose any weight, and that it's just not fair it's so 'EASY' for me. Well F-CK YOU!

Yeah well I'm getting sick of it... It's awesome though watching some of the guys I used to date and because I wouldn't lay them, they moved on. Yeah now they are all like,"Hey how are you?!?!" I'm like "Just fine." They say,"You are looking really good!" I say,"I know." and walk away... Have to have the attitude with them...
I'm not like that to anyone else.
I actually do my p.m. cardio with this guy who is about 150 pounds overweight. He walks on the tread next to me and I talk to him pretty much because he can't catch his breath. The only thing he has the breath to say is,"I don't think I can do what I'm supposed to." (He's under physician care), I just keep talking to him and then tell him to "Shhhhh" He's going to do it. It helps my cardio go by faster.

Clearly they have no idea what you do to get your results.
Fuck em.

You will run into these people throughout your life and it's not just about body related issues - it's everywhere and about anything - you just have to find a way that you can deal with these people whether it's passively or aggressively or both.

I remember your first post here and you've done nothing but bust your ass since you got here and you have my utmost respect for the work you've done.

I admire your raw dedication, spunk and desire to see your goals through to their end.

Totally feel you on this Treil! I hate when people act like you came out of the womb in shape.
I really hate those women that will actually treat you like there's something wrong with you because you look good.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

JUNE14 2006
Weight 135.6
Body fat won't be done this week due to my trainer traveling, and well I am also

A.m. cardio 60 minutes, not too bad.... Studied
P.m. cardio 40 minutes
No weights
1 Training client, one massage client

Starting to get that feeling where I feel to skinny.... I had a great breakfast though, I love non-weight day  more oatmeal, and more chicken so I'm pretty full!!!

Weights yesterday went pretty good.... This week is definitely better then last week.
I was pretty nervous after the completion of last week and how I was feeling.

Also, I have been moving pretty well on only roughly 5 hours of sleep a night. Not that I wouldn't desire more... it's just not feasible right now. Cardio Breeze is saving my butt on that one! I noticed an increase in hunger yesterday. I had upped my trex to 4 a day now... May have to add another one in here soon.

Ohhh and that time of the month... went buh bye....

Study :

I've also been doing a side study for all of you who want to know continue reading:
So I decided to put the tanita scale to the test just to see how off it was this whole time... When I started April 10th I was 152.4 and "30.2% BF", As of today I am 135.6 and "24.9%". Now as you can see from my pictures there is no way in HE!! I am 25% Body fat. That would mean I lost 16.8 pounds and only 5.3% body fat. Not possible look at the pictures yourself. So if anyone is tracking their body in this way and think for one moment it is accurate you can stop.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Glad you pointed that out Trell....that can be way off for so many reasons.....NO WAY is your bf that high....I need to buy a scale for a reference point. I hate the one at the gym...goes up and down every day and changes based on where you stand on it...

One for month sista.....Your almost there!

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

O.k. here is a chart for reference also. Showing my caliper body fat, scale weight, and tanita "BF"= Bull S. The legend is kinda smudged... the gradual decreasing linear line is my caliper measurements from my trainer. The line along the bottom is the Tanita scale and obviously the line across the top represents scale weight.
Yes... this is showing my "geek" side :nerd:

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Have a great day hun. :) Good luck with that studying. That tanita scale didn't measure my bodyfat accurately at all either.

Yayyy!! Someone else who's had the same results as me!! I have one of those scales too & it's about the same "way off" as yours......but not everyone believes how off they are.....I don't even look at the bf% anymore....

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

treil - tanita scale measures bodyfat a COMPLETELY different way from calipers. Further, it has the ability to "measure" accurately, i.e. to 2 places right of the decimal, however there are so many additional variables that go into that measure that is becomes almost meaningless if you are trying to make even any relative comparisons -- your water composition can vary soo much from day to day, hour to hour even - if you are takign 2 different measures to get a delta of change, you'd have to be very careful about measureing under the same circumstances - e.g. right when you wake up w/ no additional water consumed yet, no am cardio, etc. The whole thing about "no way are you 25%" -- its irrelevant if you are tryign to compare to a caliper measure or what we in fitness normally refer to when we talk about competition bodyfat. It just isn't.

Sorry for the little rant - but its just not even worth talking about because that same response comes up & its absolutely not measureing anythign remotely comparable to caliper measures. Just want to be clear. Its not that its "inaccurate" - its just not a measure that can be looked at or compared to a caliper measure or really as a change in bodyfat comparison.

Why is it laughable? Its not measuring the same thing so the comparison to caliper is irrelevant. Frankly calipers aren't all that "accurate" either.....

sorry to stick on that - just trying to make it clear. Its just a waste to even bother making the comparison.

Your delts looked more capped... you added upped body mass to bring out your "V" .. Nice job ...

Looks like you shrank you abdomen as well to accentuate that V ...

I cannot comment on posing but Sassy I'm sure can, as well as m24k or other comps (not leaving anyone out, sorry)

Cute hair, love the shoes, Nice glutes ... :D

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

Definitey prefer the posing on the left -- better pull on the shoulders, less "round" look on the delts. I might still pull it even harder at the caps on the shoulders but looks great!

Sadly I used to be one of those people that would have commented about how skinny you were getting. I had grown accustomed to the females who pretended that they didn’t have to lift a finger to “look like that.” I used to believe them.

It wasn’t until I began researching things, learning about how my body works with the food I give it, learning about weight lifting and then joining this site that I actually began to understand just how much work is involved in creating a competition ready body.

I think if you handed them a summary of your weight training & diet for 1 month with a disclaimer stating “lather, rise, repeat for “X” weeks.” They would probably crap themselves.

You are an inspiration my dear and I think you look FABULOUS!! So if you feel like telling them to go F*** themselves I think you've more than earned the right to do so. ;)

btw....glad to hear you and your mom have such a wonderful connection on the fitness level & that she's recovering.

Re: Treils 2006 Competition Log

JUNE 15th
Weight 137.? (had to have some salt yesterday)
a.m. cardio 60 minutes (so-so)
Friggin tired.... 4 hrs sleep finished packing this morning.
p.m. weights arms and chest (Thank God fav. Day)
P.m. cardio 40 min
1 client
Driving to Atlanta 6ish (10.5 hour drive) YEahhhh :worried:

Other things I am noticing... Face is thinning out people are noticing it too. Stomach makes noises A LOT! Kind of embarassing when giving a massage... At least my client has also competed because she said, "I hear it's feeding time"... Nice chatting with her and her saying some of the same things she went through that I am dealing with now.... Focus and concentration is the biggest issue right now. Stiffer the past few days even though I still do 15 min. of stretching after a.m. cardio. Water intake :worried: needs to go way up.... Noticing my back is achey more and I can feel my butt bones more when I sit. My eyelashes are more frail for some reason also... Not sure if that's diet related or not. Starting to do the emotional swings... One minute I'm happy the next little thing can bring me close to tears. Making sure I recognize this and take some breaths and calm the frick down! Definitely more irritable during certain parts of the day.

Things to work on:
More sleep
More water
More posing
Controlling moods
Focus more at work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things to be happy about:
Supplements are taken accordingly
All weight work-outs are being done
All cardio sessions are being completed
Posing has improved some
Body fat is dropping
Mental block of food and hunger is in tact
All food has been eaten according to diet
Including my stretching every morning that would be easy enough to skip
Still have the energy to take care of a house, cook, clean, see massage and personal training client's and keeping up with their issues, making it to work, Staying organized with my schedule, studying, and still remembering to send my dad a card for Father's Day!!!!!!!!!
