Pregnant woman 'Tasered' by police

You didn't pay attention to my first alternative.

It is an alternative to more brute physical force, where people can get bruises, broken brones, pulled muscles, perhaps even more serious dangers like weapons being used, etc. which can further elevate an already tense situation.

For a pregnant woman -- it was better for her health-wise to get taser'd for 5 seconds, then to get into a 5-minute knock-out, drag-out street fight with 2 cops. All it takes is one misplaced kick to the stomach and she can lose the child.

Those 50,000 volts ended the situation peacefully with no one seriously hurt. People are failing to realize that.

And btw: cops can't go "Okay you're putting up too much of a resistence. We'll just let you go".

If that was the cause, everyone would put up a fight when asked nicely to go to jail. No one would ever go willingly to jail. Oh and every female would instantly be "pregnant". What an easy way to get out of a speeding ticket in the USA.
I understood your post perfectly.

For some reason you seem to think the only options available when a pregnant woman doesn't comply with the police is to physically assault her or fry her ass with a taser? Both are excessive use of force for the situation.

She's been caught over the speed limit rushing her kids to school. Inform her of the fact, give her a warning, no big deal. She wasn't threatening anyone.

Surely the officers could have found a better way of dispelling the the whole stupid situation.

How is a cop supposed to differentiate between fat chick/pregnant chick on the fly? Umm, could you please pee on this strip and hold still for a minute? There are so many fat people running around, who could tell. And besides, sure, it's just a speeding ticket. Why didn't she just accept that and sign the thing? She had to be a dumbass about it. Laws are laws. We can pick and choose the ones we want to follow, but we better be fully ready to accept the punishment for the ones we don't follow. She should have followed that one.

Okay.. Apparently no one here has ever had a stun gun used against them. ITS NO BIG DEAL. I have a SWAT issued 200,000 volt stun gun. Thats right. Its for times and powerful as the taser used. I have used it on my buddies and myself. Its funny! It gets your attention. It does not injure you other than a small bruise on your body. Its a joke.
I don't think anyone on this thread should be defending this idiot lady. She was going 32 in a 20. That is the equivelant to 70 in a 50. She was in a school zone. In a rush. She was driving to endanger. There were children in the area. She disobeyed not one but two police officers. Thats right they called back up. They explained signing was not an admission of guilt. What was she doing? So far all she is doing is breaking the law, disobeying two officers and CAUSING the whole scene. Her decisions caused this whole situation.
Put her in jail. If she is that stupid they should take her child too!

Cost to taxpayers:

$5,000

Plus lawsuit.

Sweet.

Notice in the 3 pages of bullshit posted here everyone that says the police acted wrong in this situation have yet to post a REASONABLE way to solve the problem (LET HER GO!?! SHOOT THE TIRES) good idea we will go from using a NON lethal weapon to using a lethal weapon!! Look at cops, if we let go everyone that put up resistance everyone would do it and arrest rates would plummet.. 50,000 volts isn't anything, just like slat said.. i've been hit w/ 100,000 and it hurts for a couple seconds and then your fine. ya it leaves marks ud be stupid to think it didn't.. other then bombing me why don't u post a reasonable explanation on how the problem should have been solved and argue like adults instead of like 3rd graders,, oh shit nutsnack has a point and i dont.. ill just bomb him and ill win

i'm looking for a debate not a flamefest

this is 100% the fault of the pregnant lady imo.. she shouldve just signed the ticket and had her day in court..

she didnt want to sign which is illegal so they arrested her.. so now she esclated the situation from a traffic violation to being arrested..after that she resists to some degree and well sorry if you care about your unborn child you wouldnt start resisting when cops are trying to drag you out of the car..

btw you have to sign a ticket to prove that the cop gave you the ticket and didnt just write up a make believe ticket and send it through.. w/o having to sign a ticket cops could just mail them out and you would have a hard time proving if you were ever stopped..

We had an interesting situation in my city not too long ago involving tasers. A police officer was sent to one of the high schools to pick up a kid accused of armed robbery. He had a photo of the suspect, a warrant for arrest and had gotten his class schedule from the school. He pulled into the parking lot and saw someone who matched the discription and the picture. He approached the boy and asked for his name and some identification. The boy told him to "Fuck off" and tried to walk away. The officer then said again I need to see some ID and I need your name. The boy again told him to fuck off and tried to walk away. The officer then grabbed him, and scuffle ensued, and the officer tasered him. It ended up not being the suspect and was just some other kid who looked very similar. Now the city is up in arms about taser use and blah blah blah. The point is, all the kid had to do was tell the officer is name and show some ID and the situation would have been over. But insead, he got his ass tasered.

I don't care what the circumstances are, if you a cop tasers a kid there will always be hell to pay.......

Even if the cop was justified, there will still be alot of heat on the cop........tasering a kid just doesn't fy these days.....
