I understood your post perfectly.Razorguns said:You didn't pay attention to my first alternative.
It is an alternative to more brute physical force, where people can get bruises, broken brones, pulled muscles, perhaps even more serious dangers like weapons being used, etc. which can further elevate an already tense situation.
For a pregnant woman -- it was better for her health-wise to get taser'd for 5 seconds, then to get into a 5-minute knock-out, drag-out street fight with 2 cops. All it takes is one misplaced kick to the stomach and she can lose the child.
Those 50,000 volts ended the situation peacefully with no one seriously hurt. People are failing to realize that.
And btw: cops can't go "Okay you're putting up too much of a resistence. We'll just let you go".
If that was the cause, everyone would put up a fight when asked nicely to go to jail. No one would ever go willingly to jail. Oh and every female would instantly be "pregnant". What an easy way to get out of a speeding ticket in the USA.
For some reason you seem to think the only options available when a pregnant woman doesn't comply with the police is to physically assault her or fry her ass with a taser? Both are excessive use of force for the situation.
She's been caught over the speed limit rushing her kids to school. Inform her of the fact, give her a warning, no big deal. She wasn't threatening anyone.
Surely the officers could have found a better way of dispelling the the whole stupid situation.
