Postworkout carbs at night

I work out at night, and don't get home until 8:30 or 9, so I basically eat and go to bed. Should I still be eating some carbs to replenish glycogen, or is this too late for carbs, even though it is postworkout? Of course, I wouldn't be increasing my daily calories or overall carbs, just thinking about saving some for postworkout.

Par Deus stated in answer to a similar question that there is no fundamental difference in eating carbs later in the evening versus earlier in the day with regards to being fattening. The only problem I can think of is that it would produce an insulin spike, which may or may not interfered with GH production, which occurs primarily during sleep.

I think you're ok skinnyfat, I do the same thing. Workout late, post-workout shake around 9pm. I think if your carbs are complex and are in moderate amounts, you should be fine.

have low gi carb eg sweet potato after training. it will repair and give u gains. otherwise you will not grow...no growth=less mucsle, more fat

Thanks, guys. My thinking is that if you have depleted your glygogen stores, then your muscles will soak up the carbs pretty fast, so by the time you hit the hay, there probably won't be any excess glucose hanging around in your bloodstream, so you are OK.

I think so too. Especially for those of us who stay up pretty late.
