painful bump under left clavicle...

New member
last time i did flat bench my shoulders felt really stiff and i could hear cracking on every rep... now my left shoulder (well actually my left clavicle) hurts and there's this bump right under it... so im not sure if i separated something, or it's just a strain, but i guess im just going to take a few days off and go back to the gym... anyone have any advice or possible diagnosis for what's wrong?

i'd see a doctor for this before lifting anymore...or else you could cause even worse damage and jeapordise your future of lifting

ok... my left side.. right where the clavicle and the shoulder meet... it's like a little corner the you can dig your finger into kindof.. and there's this weird lump right there in that corner below the clavicle.. it sticks out a little and is sore... but it defiinitely feels like there's an internal problem there because my range of motion with my left shoulder is shot.. and it hurts to do front shoulder raises, flatbench, etc.

Go see a doctor. Where Exactly is the pain? Is it where the shoulder and clavicle meet? I had something similar and was diagnosed with weightlifters shoulder. He said live with the pain or get a piece of my bone removed.

"Acromioclavicular joint sprain

Acromioclavicular joint sprain is very common in strength athletes, often called "weightlifter's shoulder." Though usually a result of a fall or brunt force, AC sprains are also caused by overtraining. AC sprains are classified as first, second, and third degree sprains. Second and third degree sprains, characterized by partial (second degree) and complete (third degree) tearing of the joint ligaments, are uncommon in powerlifters, but can progress from a first degree sprain if it goes untreated. A first-degree sprain is characterized by localized pain, point tenderness, and swelling. Pain will be felt when the arm is horizontally adducted, such as in the last few inches of the bench press, and overhead pressing movements. First-degree sprains can also lead to impingement syndrome due to the weakness, muscle imbalance, and inflammation that result from a chronic sprain.

These conditions are only the more common shoulder problems powerlifters experience. There can be many other causes of shoulder pain and weakness, for instance any weakness and/or numbness can have a neurological basis as well. For this reason, it is important to have any chronic problems diagnosed by a health care professional."

AC separation.

they suck, take months to heal, and the ligaments never regain 100% tightness.

ice, rest, ice, rehab with a band, ice.
