Ok, this is a serious thread... All the law people in the house your advice is appreciated

So my father passed away in Nov of 1997... My step mother completely just kept us out of everything, including the reading of the will. I have pursued this situation over and over, I continued to try to find out information but the family lawyer wouldn't even talk to me. Nothing has been settled as of yet, She cashed in close to a mil in life insurance which by LA law does not have to be put in the estate. The home has been turned over to my younger sister and my step mother has gone on with her life. I am happy she did, thats no problem... we all want to be happy.

The problem is that the car, house, property and company is still under my fathers name and with all my requests hasn't been settled. Now, they wrecked the car and before they can do anything they need both my and my sisters signature. So here is my issue... I've requested all be taken care of for the last 10 years and NOW they need me to do something for them.

Ok, I am really just ranting... I refused to sign a thing until the sucession is completed. I guess I am wrong for this... I really am not sure. bleh....

As for the attorney handling the estate, he does not have to speak to you at all even if you are a beneficiary. They represents the Executor/Executrix individually and no one else. If in fact you are a beneficiary in your father will you should have received a Beneficiary Letter stating which paragraph you were named along with a photocopy of the will for your review.

If the car was left you and your sister in the will, I am not sure how the vehicle was not turned over to one of you before the estate was settled?

I am not sure who wrecked the car but do know its a total loss. Without my sig and my sisters sig nothing can be done. She in the past tried to convince my father to write us out of his will, disown us and he never signed the paper. Our previous family lawyer informed me of the papers he didn't want to sign so she went with another attorney. She has let this linger for 10 years, that is just crazy! She collected close to a million in insurance and nothing was taken care of! Not even his medical bills.

The home and property that is supposed to belong to my oldest sister and I... well, our youngest sister is living there whilst my step mother is off in NO with her lover. Property my father purchased before he met her for my sister and I are still lingering and we cant touch.

Its a shitty situation, All I want is out and for her to finish this... I have a company I could be getting shares from but because she fails to complete the legal work neither I nor my two sisters get a dime. She can't get anything from the profits it goes to us...

I refuse to sign a thing until she and I have a sit down and clear it all up...
