OK, lets talk about suicide.

Why seek a common factor in the first place?
An early warning mechanism for potential suiciders down the road?

Hmm common factor which links all the different suiciders together..
negative emotions/feelings

A focus on themselves, and why their life is shit and not about what positives that they may have, or that they could GIVE to the world.
I would guess more poor people kill themselves in the industrialized world, than people from the slums in Brazil

I don't think there is a common factor. What about suicide bombers? They do it for political, social or religious reasons. Then there are cults like Jones Town. Brainwashed into suicide.

I'm currently considering suicide. I'm too tired right now to get into my reasons for wanting to do it and my reasons that I have not done it yet. I'll try to send you a PM about it tomorrow if I can get out of bed for more than 20 minutes.

If that is true bro, you need to be talking to someone besides an annonymous PM on EF, you need a confidant seriously.

Thanks MyWay, for the K. If I tell you that you are the cutest thing I've ever seen and I just want to squeeze you and give you a Care Bear hug could I get some more?

If not, can i get a hug?

emotional pain that wont go away. and no hope for things ever getting better

i think those would be the "out of the blue" suicides

and then there are people who do it spur of the moment when shit hits the fan for them. like caught up in a huge scandal, about to do hard time, and be disgraced in front of all their loved ones. and decide that life will never offer anything positive for them again

then there are psychoactive drug induced ones also. where people just lose all grasp of reality, freak out, and think their mind is gone forever.

so i think the common bond is no hope for things ever improving

Myway, suicide for some people appear to be the only way out of a situation. People with depression diagnosed and undiagnosed let things build up inside of them to the point where all hope seems futile. Suicide at this moment appears the only way out for these people due to the fact that they see no other viable solution to there worrys and problems. It a very complex situation when someone makes up there mind to commit suicide they are the calmest and at peace with themselves. I had a friend of mine that committed suicide and the weeks leading up to it , he went to the hospital and was admitted or kept under suicide watch by the dr. He returned home depressed and out of it basically, and then a few weeks later was loving life making amends with his family making future plans and a couple of days later he shot himself. Very sad indeed. I hope you do well on your test...

I knew a girl, her name was Ryan, killed herself on accident..... trying to pretend to kill herself to make her mom feel bad for not letting her go to a concert. She was 12. It was really sad.
I also had a call at work for an 11 year old boy who hung himself. The whole time I was on the call, I just kept thinking, "wtf would make an 11 year old boy KILL HIMSELF?!?". When we got there, he wasn't breathing and had a GCS of 3.
We had him breathing again by the time we got him to the hospital and he started walking again several months later. His name is Jacob. Now, he's in a foster home. But since he was only 11 when he first had a near-success suicide attempt, I'm betting he is gonna try again someday.
Its just sad.

k for u, good bro.

LOL... the world of appearance is not reality.
Some enlightened, or those who are close to rising up, have to go through a path of great sorrow... that I could never, ever, ever bear in this or the next lifetime.
Now, some of them may be famous, some of them not famous... these 'evolved' individuals who have a cross to bear on their 'path'.
They are not weak... If by weak I mean confronting things you or I can not fathom, and inbetween 'worlds' that have to be kept to themselves...
This is not your APA... or NIMH... definition... but fuck them, they aren't wise, smart, but not wise. -Nor am I- either in that case.
So while You see just the 'appearance' not every suicide is so cut and dry.

In 1977, some viatnemese buddhists set themselves on fire to make a political statement. It is the cover of Rage Against the Machine... Album from years past.
This is not weakness, but self sacrifice to symbolize those who suffered at the hands of primitive power, tyranny, and ignorance.

We have the idea that suicide... is by the weak, and that is true in some cases... however, we do not know the Anguish, or situation they are in.
Far, far too quick to give one answer to degrees, depth, and the 'world' they find themselves in.
I don't think I could ever commit suicide, however I know better. I know that if I were put in a situation where the pain in conditional reality of shame, anguish, fear, sorrow, was too much bear... I would.

I hate suicide threads... however, this one has some merit.
