Bwhahaahhshaahhaahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaahahahahahaahhaahahhaahahahahahaahagahahahhaahha

I thought that alon gabbey twinkey fucker got banned.
Fuck

I haven't eaten a Twinkie since I was 7 years old probably...

At any rate, the Twinkie license will most likely be individually sold off. Wouldn't be surprised to see Little Debbie pick up the license for it. Little Debbie > Hostess all day long. They would most likely improve on the recipe.

they got their bluff called.

It's not about getting they're bluff called, it's about standing up for rights as worker!they have already taken cuts in pay , cuts in benefits!! Would you be willing to take a cut in pay ? The cost of living hasn't went down only up .

if it was between losing my job and taking a cut yep i'll take the cut.
workers have rights, and owners have rights...the latter used their right to shut down their company, the former can now use those rights to find a new employer more suitable to their demands.
btw i am in a union, a much hated one, and we have suffered cuts as well.

i can't think of many people who haven't suffered some cut in pay and/or benefits during the economic downturn...everyone is making less money now...even donald fucking trump...wtf makes you so special that you believe that you are immune????

welcome to the new world order...we're all gonna have to figure out how to be satisfied with less...enjoy your stay.

no...they think that everyone is lying to them and that the company is really, actually making millions and they're hiding it from them.

Yep and they are jealous as per Obama so they should have the shit taxed out of them for fairness.

Company can't run at a loss. Only governments seem to pull that off. Company went through bankruptcy and union contract was reset by the courts. Union did not accept court changes and walked off the job.

What do you do. They did not want the job, company could not afford what they wanted. Bye bye Twinkies.

Next one you eat will be made in China.

How long do you think a package of Twinkies will last? Would it be worth going to pick some up and storing them for value? I have always heard nuke fallout would bring an end to everything but roaches and Twinkies?

I think u are right. He was. That settles it...I am going to pick up some from the store tonight. If all else fails, by the looks of the ingredients, in about 20-30 years I'll have some extra oil for the car.

Exactly brother. Without unions there would have never been a middle class

Twinkies and all their other popular brands will still be produced because they will be sold off to other manufacturers; Maybe they'll be produced in Mexico or Canada.

For some reason i imagine you typing this with your dick...?
Is that what you do?
Do you stand behind a desk in some office with your pants open typing with your dick while not having sex with your pregnant wife and jumping back and fourth from EF and creampie gang bang porn?

There was a time & a place for unions, but that time is long gone. Unions now do nothing but screw hard-working people, and they are good at it. When Cesar Chavez helped to unionize farm labor and set standards, it was VERY needed. Labor was abused and unfairly underpaid, and forced to work unreasonable hours under dangerous conditions. The problem is that once those issues were resolved, the unions kept pushing and pushing until now, when it's swung so far the other way, that companies can't afford to have union labor, so they're outsourcing and shutting down. The union leaders are well-paid, and plenty secure, but the union members are at the mercy of the leaders, who have nothing to lose when they gamble with lives & jobs and make impossible demands. Do those workers REALLY think that non-union workers HAVEN'T taken huge cuts, along with business owners? They're not in the real world, and sadly, this firing of 18K people is the tip of the iceberg. Twinkies will indeed be made again with a new owner, and it will be non-unionized if it's going to be in business in the USA. I don't say whether that's fair or unfair, or right or wrong; I just state it as a fact.

Wait 'til so many union workers find out that their pensions are all just a bunch of ink on paper, and that they were lied to, and when they need to use their free medical care, and are told their illness isn't covered. Ask any airline pilots from Delta or most any other airline, and ask anyone whose union had retirement funds in 401Ks in the 90s. I got a statement from a 401K that I had when I briefly worked for a unionized electronics firm, and I didn't bother to keep the statement because whatever it said my accumulated balance is, might as well be Monopoly money. In today's working world, it's every man for himself and every woman for herself.

Twinkies will be rebranded under the bimbo moniker soon enough. The lard-asses of America have nothing to fear.

To generalize each and every union is not the right way to address this by saying assuming that every union and its leaders are out to destroy businesses and pad their pockets and benefits with as much ad they can. Even today, most unions do nothing but good for the people in their unions AND the economy in general especially with the larger companies.

I will give my company as an example. My union was threatened during contract negotiations by the company of having our wages slashed by 30%, our benefit premiums rising by 20%, taking away one weeks vacation, and denying retirement benefits for any new hires. This was all during a time when the company saw record profits and our companies overall sales went from 6.7 billion to 8.3 billion while the CEO and board of directors got millions more in salary and bonuses. The company cited "the recession and tough economic times" as the reason the cutbacks were necessary without a reduction in workforce. They were trying to pull the wool over our eyes when we could see clearly that they were using the current American economy as an excuse to reduce our pay and benefits, despite being a global supplier and the fact that THEY MADE MORE MONEY DURING THIS TIME AND WERE CONTINUING THE TREND!!

Don't speak down on unions without walking down the road I walk on every day. I've been battling these assholes as for years....and paid union official? What's that? The only thing I get is my pride of protecting my brothers and sisters so they can provide for their families. I get no monetary compensation.

They said on the news tonight they'll still be produced in Canada..

I'm not really that pro-union of a guy, but unions had nothing to do with the Hostess demise. It was incompetent management. Selling Twinkies and Ding Dongs in 2012 makes as much sense as selling 8 track players. After all these years their innovation has been zero. It would be like Goodyear still trying to sell bias ply tires. No healthy alternatives? No granola? No energy bars? No protein nuggets? Shit they could have done a million different things, but they had as much imagination as a box of hammers.
And the sorry ass management tries to blame unions. And the right wingers join the band wagon. But that wasn't the case at all.

as a follow up to my coca-cola comment...remember wtf happened when the coca-cola company tried to innovate???? twinkies, ding-dongs and coke have nothing in common with automobile tires (which were improved for the sake of safety, wear, production, etc.)...it's apples and oranges...or snack food and car tires (if you like :lmao: )

They charge something like $8.00 each for deep-fried twinkies at the SD county fair. I wonder what they'll find to replace it.

Actually, I think my analogy was superb. :)

Innovate or die. It applies to every industry.

hostess has introduced all sorts of new products over the years...but the old favorites, they didn't mess with...mcdonald's still sells a shitload of big macs...frito-lay still sells a shitload of cheetos...the coca-cola company still sells a shitload of coke...no one messes with their old favorites...the only (major) one that ever tried was coke and it damn near killed them.

There is nothing wrong with McDonalds continuing to sell Big mac's as long as they sell. If people stopped liking Big Mac's they would have to come up with something new, or die. Hostess failed. That's the bottom line. That's a management problem, not a union problem.

I do the same thing. When I see hard times ahead, I put money away, cut costs, and keep it all for later. If your company is doing that, I'd say they'll still be there for awhile because somebody understands business & economy ;-) . Case in point: Let's say that in 2005, my neighbor and I had houses that had $400k owed, and were worth $950k. Both of us had a pool man, gardener, and a weekly cleaning lady. Let's say the neighbor pulled out $250k more and bought a 2nd house with 1% down, and a boat, new cars, etc., and gave the help a raise. Let's say I didn't, but in stead, I sold my boat, got cheaper cars, etc., and made a $200K paydown on the mortgage, and cut the cleaning lady to every 2 weeks, and stopped the gardener to do the work myself. Maybe as a realist, I saw what was going on. Then in June '06, CRASH! The houses go down to 400K, and the neighbor gets foreclosed because his balloon payment comes up, and he's negative $200k. Mine comes up, and I leverage them into a better rate than I had before, and I pay it down $200K, and still have 50% equity. Hmmmm: Pool man still has job, cleaning lady still has 1/2 time, and all my creditors are paid up to date in good standing, and the neighbor's workers are out of luck, and he's in a motel.

NOW: What if there had been a union of homeowners, which forced ME give raises to all help, and further to pay for their medical care, and to borrow that extra $250K to go spend on crap in '06? Scary, isn't it!

Unions have their place in protecting workers from tyranny and danger in the workplace, but this should stop short of forcing employers to endanger themselves on the books. Heck; that's one smart CEO to take home a few dollars from the company, which I'm sure he stuck his neck out and he did his part to create, before the ship goes down with him on it.

*hypothetical numbers, but all other parts of this story are fact.

-nature's pride (all natty lib friendly bread)
-beefsteak (rye bread)
-mrs. cubbison (stuffing/bread crumb manufactuerer)
and a half a dozen others, all under the hostess brand, that don't specifically make junk food...so there is more under the hostess umbrella than just ding dongs and twinkies.

I don't have a sweet tooth. No cookies, candy, cakes, pies or soda for me. My only vices are craft beer and cigars, which unfortunately I seem to be doing more and more each day.

Great stories...only in America people are worried about twinkies coming off the market...nice overweight country life

Come on bro you don't have a love for ho-ho's and little choc donuts?

I put mine in the fridge so they are nice and cold. Also on cheat days I keep a glass in the fridge so when I pour my milk in it it super cold!

I have a horrible sweet tooth. Today is cheat day and I'm plowing some blueberry yogurt covered pretzels and some Choc chip mini m&m cookies.

My wife is a kick ass cook too as am I. I make gormet dark chocolate truffles every December. These fuckers rival anything Gertrude hawk sells.

So no more nuclear fallout food?
