my trip to new orleans summed up

well I just got back from new orleans after spending 5 days there and i've established a couple things.

1. I was one of 5 white guys in the entire bourbon street stretch.


2. I got mugged at gun point by 3 black guys and they got all my credit cards and 700 dollars in cash plus my license which you DO need to get on a returning flight.

3. I got shit faced drunk the entire time.

4. I got a gun pointed to my head outside a bar..

people are so friendly there I may just move!!

FUCK NEW ORLEANS!

when I was there april '06 I got drugged and woke up in an alley with no watch or wallet

I went to new orleans just after mardi gras when they were having their St. Patricks day parade and such.

My experience wasn't as bad as yours, but I didn't feel entirely at ease with people there, either.

I had some guy try to give me a "tour" of the cemetary and when I said no he demanded cash. I just ran away from him.

Every place I went the staff would try to short change me. It happened in two restaraunts, Walgreens, bars, etc. It got very old telling people to give me the right change back. I guess they figure that the tourists are all so drunk that they can get away with it.

I had a friend who had a guy just walk into his hotel room while he was in it and take his wallet (evidently the door was not shut all the way).

One of the hotel staff stole some of my makeup and perfume and stuff.

Don't worry, when you come to Portland later this month nothing like that will happen, our black peeps are better behaved. Except on MLK BLVD, just don't go there.

2 black girls rescued me and drove me around until we located my hotel
I felt really wierd and the next day was still sort of looped out

I was at a place with 3 for 1 on beers and I figure one of my beers was spiked when I took a piss
