My friend just quit smoking 3 days ago.....

her appetite will improve.

Here is something to pass onto her. This is very important. I am an ex smoker. I quit 22 years ago.

She should take a portion or all the money she spent on smokes and buy herself something every week. It gives her a reward for quitting and it will make each week easier knowing she will be buying herself purely for herself.

After a couple weeks the thought of giving up her weekly treat will help curve the cravings. IT WORKS

Yeah buy something sweet like a bag of weed

i felt horrible for months. you most likely have bronchitis if you're a long time smoker, which is hell getting rid of.....and finding something to hold between your fingers for 2 hours out of the day is difficult to replace, also....

Just overall quality of life. When you get a cold, you get better in half the time. You don't get those random little coughs for no reason. You yawn less (I noticed this when I quit for a while and then started back up). Food tastes better. When the seasons change, you notice the smells you didn't the year before. Better stamina, better apetite. Better everything.

What if she has a bunch of money? Hell I smoked for 20+ years, the cost was nothing compared to the booze and coke. Before you think I'm evil you have to realize back once apon a time smoking wasn't considered evil. or booze or coke. I use to go to a gym that had a bar in it. We would work out, meet chicks, drink, smoke, maybe some coke then go have unprotected sex. No aids back then either. Just herpes. LOL. Oh the good old days. I know so many people that had to go to rehab later in life. I mean real reheb not what these socialites go to now.

Perhaps you’ve already felt the damage caused by smoking in your own body – shortness of breath, long-lasting chest colds, and morning smoker’s cough. Smoking can increase the severity of asthma and is the overwhelming cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The good news is that your body begins to mend itself within minutes of smoking your last cigarette. Quitting smoking can greatly improve your health—even if you’ve been smoking for decades. The facts below are very encouraging and may motivate you to quit now and stay smoke-free.

20 minutes after your last cigarette
Blood pressure drops to normal.
Pulse rate drops to normal.
Temperature of hands and feet increases to normal.

8 hours after your last cigarette
Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal.
Oxygen level in blood increases to normal.

24 hours after your last cigarette
Chance of heart attack decreases.

48 hours after your last cigarette
Ability to smell and taste is enhanced.

72 hours after your last cigarette
Breathing becomes easier.
Lung capacity increases.

2 weeks to 3 months after your last cigarette
Blood circulation improves.
Walking becomes easier.
Lung function increases up to 30%.

1 to 9 months after your last cigarette
Coughing, sinus congestion, and shortness of breath decreases.
Your body’s energy level increases.
Your lungs are better able to fight infection.

5 years after your last cigarette
Mouth and throat cancer death risk decreases.

10 years after your last cigarette
Lung cancer death risk drops.
Risk of other cancers drops

The money thing is big, but tell her to save it up for a few months so she really gets the idea of how much it costs. Say you are a pack a day smoker and a pack is ~$4 in one month you save about $120 dollars in a year $1,460 in ten years you could afford a small car. All this from doing something to improve your life anyway.

Side note: I work with a guy that smokes 2-2.5 packs a day. That's like $3,000 dollars a year literally up in smoke.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I have been trying to explain to her what her body will go through over the next few months. Any ideas? So far, I told her:
Clothes will stop stinking
Car will stop stinking
Hair will stop stinking
Taste buds will improve
Sinuses will clear up
Am I leaving anything out? I trying to come up with some things she will notice just over the next few months.
her lungs will come back to life

tell her to think about all that black smoke that gts exhaled when she smokes - and imagine all that and more actually going INTO her body and being ABSORBED by her lungs. how gross. that constant thought was enough to keep me from going back to smoking

tell her to nibble on a twizzler hen she gets the urge for a smoke,. that;s what I did. especially in the car while driving. nibble on it for about 5-7 minutes and the craving will be gone. the craving always goes away whether you smoke one or not. so might as well not
