My First Stick, by Wayneboard1

Well, I worked out legs yesterday and chest and tris today and had a good workout both days, VERY solid. I noticed something when I looked at the 2 guys I was working out with and me. We did a warm up set, and then started at 12, 10, 8, and they were done. I really am trying to be careful lof overtraining, but I did 2 more sets and they were both very solid sets and I went up in weight. These guys just ran out of gas after the set of 8 on flat bench and when I say ran out of gas, they can't get that last rep up and they just call it quits. I just kept going. :D I did the same thing on incline bench and on the 2 tri excercises I did. Man it was great. I really felt good today, and I have noticed that when I have a really big protein/flax oil shake right before bed, my lifting is better. If I forget it and don't use as much protein as I normally would, I suffer. That was my bodies way of stressing the importance of protein!!! It may be mental but whatever it is, it is working. I love how I am able to blast a body part, and not be sore or barely sore the next few days. I obliteraed my legs on Sunday, did 2 extra sets of everything, and I went slower on all my reps and man, I could run 10 miles today. I also see that cutting back on the cardio seems to of made a difference already. Apparently I was doing to much cardio and using up energy on that as opposed to lifting. Well no more! Thanks again to those guys that reminded me that I am bulking and to cut back on the cardio. I frigin love gear.

I always do cardio. But that is just me. When I bulk I don't fug around I eat my ass off. The last bulker though I was in a kitchen 13 hours a day so it was pretty easy. Cardio is not a bad thing if your bulking dude. Believe that!!! It's all about timing nutrients, glycogen control and clean eating.

well you may have a few advantages Chef. One that you are a chef I assume you work in a kitchen and can cook much better tasting healthy food to eat and two, you are a cook so you have the time to cook the meals I mentioned above. I am pretty dang busy and eating right is a bigtime chore for me and sometimes I cant eat how I would like. SO, I was maybe compensating for those times by doing cardio to keep the fat in check. Bad strategy I know.

My last cycle I was working and to tell you the truth it's a huge advantage being in a kitchen during a bulking cycle. I can't tell you exactly how much I ate but I can assure you it was alot. But even then, I compensated for the over indulgence by doing cardio in the morning. This kept fat absorbtion at a low. The last cycle I kept 15-20 lbs lbm, and got strong as shit. If you feel you are not getting enough calories to do cardio in the morning and still have fuel for the fire at the gym, by all means don't do the cardio.

Man if you have the time or desire to do so, you should post up some of your quick shakes or meals that the regular culinarily challengd guy can do. :D Maybe post them in the diet forum or muscle food forum, or PM them to me!!! I have been doing as you suggested and doing the chicken and rice thing to take to work, but man if I eat one more chicken breast....lol.....I really think I am gonna vomit. Even the smell is starting to get to me. I am going to switch to lean beef for awhile.

I had a great workout today, back and bi day. Deads and bent over rows were spot on and both up about 25 very solid lbs. I did 2 extra sets of everything and felt very solid throughout the whole thing. I am really concentrating on slower controlled reps, especially on the way down and keeping my form spot on. I rewarded myself with some subway on the way home, I am STILL hungry. I weighed myself (before subway) and I am at 226, slmost 227 (up from 216 at the start) so not bad so far. I am 5 weeks in now and feeling good. I did almost have to kill someone at the gym today. There is this guy that thinks he frigin owns the place and he kept coming over and "working in" without asking me, and then he wouldn't put my weight back on when he was done. So after 2 of those I just stayed at the bar and he came over and said "excuse me I need this" and I said "nope, I'm using it and I have 2 more sets". He just looked at me and I think he was trying to decide if he wanted to be a smartass or be cool about it and I was fully ready to get old testament on him. Before he said anything I "explained" to him that if he is going to work in, the typical gym custom is to ask and then put that persons weights back on, or ask how many sets a person has left and wait, not just barge in like you are THE burger king or something. He looks at me and says "ok bro, thats cool, I'll wait". YOU'RE DAMM RIGHT YOU'LL WAIT I'M GROWING MUSCLE OVER HERE YOU LITTLE BONER. I am going to eat some more and take a frigin nap cuz being a badass AND growing muscle wears me the heck out!

Yo, Brohamski, try some turkey breast. Take that shit off the bone(or buy it boneless) cook it skin side down until it's done. Once it has cooled down, slice it into 4 oz. portions and pack two of them for your lunch. Even buy a whole pork-loin. That shit at my local grocery store is like(hold on, I'm running to the fridge to check the price..............I'm back) 1.99 a pound. That's cheap as fuck. If you buy the whole pork loin, simply cut it into 2-3 pound pieces and freeze it. Pull it out of the freezer the night before you want to cook it. As for the rice, for every cup and a half of cooked rice you have add one can of tuna. Throw a bag of frozen peas in there at the end of the cooking process. Or some 1/4 brussel sprouts.
Don't forget about some wholesale beef jerky. That packs a helluva protein punch. 3, 40z bags for 8 bucks. Each bag has like 50g of protein.

Pork is very lean. It's ideal to trim the loin first of the fat. If not, it will melt into the meat :Chef: :tuc:
