When I got my permit my dad wasn't sure if he had to add me to his insurance plan. He called the company, and asked. Turned out that as long as I had my permit, then I didn't need to be on the plan. Of course the day I got my license I was placed on the plan.

I think in my state if I loan my vehicle to someone then my liability insurance covers them but my policy can be cancelled if they cause an accident. So basically the policy will cover that accident but after that my policy gets cancelled and I end up buying high risk insurance. It's probably a better idea to go ahead and pay the premium for your daughter. When she goes to college make sure she goes to one that's over 120 miles away. Her rate will go down a bit.
