My Daughter is Getting A Learners Permit Do I have to Tell My Insurance Company?

My experience in Texas has been, with all the illegal Mexicans driving around without insurance (or license for that matter) you might want to add "un-insured motorist".....

Just my .02.....

Bro,

I am scared to death as a father. Especially since I was a teenage boy once, I am pectrafied(sp).

I have already had some trouble with her when she was 14 so I took her out of the public system and put her in a fundlementalist baptist private school. She since has changed and gotten so much nicer, modest and more respectful. Public school suck now dude. They(commy bastards like the ACLU) have taken God out of the schools and it shows. I mean she had friends that were doing shrooms and coke in the 6th grade. Man, I never saw a joint until I was in the eight grade. She had four friends that were pregnant in the seventh.

The best advice I can give you is put your kids in private or home school. Don't let the govt educate them. The govt is TERRIBLE at it. Spend the money it is worth every cent.

One day I hope we get vouchers so we can send our kids and our money to where we(as parents) see fit.

Damn... that sucks!!! I look at her now, and wow, she's just so sweet. Yet one day, I know she'll have wants of her own, and going to the park and flying a kite and feeding some ducks probably won't be on the top anymore.

Although she's in Pre-K, she's already in a private school. No matter the dollar amount, it's worth every penny... and I doubt she will ever go anywhere else. I went to a public school... you can sit in the back of the class picking your cornhole all day and still pass with a C. I also didn't like school when I was a kid, and that never helps. The things she has at this school is incredible... and she eats a lot better than I do.

Also, they all dress somewhat the same. None of this catholic school girl skirt look, but uniform's nonetheless. No FUBU wear, no wanna be gangbangin' dress bullshit... she'll never have it any other way.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUCK.

I'd rather have fewer kids, and afford a better education for them, than have multiple kids and start them on a shitty foundation.

Education... it's vital from the beginning, and it's foundation will last for a lifetime... whether it be positive or negative.

curling - I hope she listen's to you and makes wise decisions my friend.

Its not the school which causes people to change, its the kids deciding how they want to live ultimately.

NB, if I was allowed to decide how I wanted to live when I was in school I would have never done my homework, bathed or showed respect to my teachers. I would say that you went to a pretty crappy private school if it was nothing more than a public school with religion class. I went to both public and Catholic and the workload at the Catholic schools was easily three times the public schools. Plus there was no sleeping allowed in class, something I saw routinely in the public schools. Everyone was just more disciplined and respectful.

I'm just calling it like I saw it as are you but I have never heard anyone that went to public schools talk about doing as much work or having as many rules as I and other private school children did.

I dont think there is a direct correlation between public/private schools and intelligence.

you are correct the workloads at private school were extensive and more demanding and yes more rules but that did not mean it made it any better, we had a through dress code....very few followed it to the letter *for example dress shirts and ties must be on and proper at all times. kids unbuttoned the top and loosened the ties and wouldn't tuck them in.* Yes, they got detention for it or repremanded but they would still continue to do it. Girls wore short skirts shorter then allowed and got away with it all the time...

for the 7,500$ a year my folks paid for the school i would think it would be pretty good...

That's quite a bit of dough... if you don't mind me asking... what do you do now?

Man, that is high. I pay about 1200 for 9 months.

Crazier,

I am glad to hear you feel that way. Dude it is worth every penny. I mean how can we compete for our childrens time when we get two or three hours a day and they get 7 or 8 with them. That is why we(you) need to get them in a school with the same phylosphy as we have.

Btw She(my daughter) is a pleasure now. She has done a 180 with her life. And I owe it alot to the school she goes to now and more of a commitment me and my wife made to spend more time with both of them. (we both had some trouble in the past that we needed to straighten out) And I couldn't be happier. Enjoy the park and stuff with them now because they will want to start hanging with their friends more than their old man after a while.

I'm sorry to rain on your private school parade but, i attended an ultra strict and very religion orientated private catholic academy for 3 years of my adolescent schooling (7,8,9th grades). Private schools are not better then public schools, they are public schools with prayer and a religion class.

That's your own dumbass fault (or likely, your parents) for going to CBA. Did you get groped while you were there?

In some better - off suburban areas, the public schools are pretty good. I've done some curriculum development for both types of schools, (and I attended a $20,000 per year boarding school for a while) and I can tell you, there is a fundamental, across the board attitude difference when the state is writing the checks.

Curling, You need to add her to the insurance. I think Wodin is wrong on this. I work in insurance outsourcing and I can't think of any states where his answer is right (though there may be some).

The consequernces could be that you get denide coverage if you have an accident, or they backdate teh premiums and back-charge you a bunch. The nightmare scenario is if she causes an accident and your company denies you - you could be liable for tens of thousands of dollars or more.

Just add her.

I'll call my insurance to make sure thanks matt. Lawsuits are what I worry about since we live in such a damn litigious society now. I think shakespear was right for a society to truly thrive you must first kill all the lawyers. :D
