Might get laid off. Thinking about joining army...

DON'T DO IT. i just got out of the Army having your freedom taken away sucks. you don't know what you've got till it's gone. too many reasons too list on here about why you should stay out but all I can say is most people regret it.

what was your MOS? enlisted or officer? I would think theres a lot of difference between an enlisted infantryman and an officer in intel or finance.

Ummm I didn't know that you could just show up at your recruiter's office and say, "I wanna join but only if I get to start out as a general."

I mean, why not start out as one? You shooting high, why not go for the top?

'Course I don't know many peeps that were in the armed forces that WANTED to start out at the bottom.

Army:

Speaks multiple languages = Motorpool

Degree in logistics and planning of material hamdling = Cook

Degree in Engineering (any discipline) = Supply

Experienced civilian pilot = pilot (daddy was a general)

Any dumbass = infantry

Officer material = lucky guy that has juice (or in time of war anyone that can say ask without the x)

Or in todays army anyone with teeth colored by gold or can say ask with an x (daddy was a Master Sgt)

Recruiters all lie, they tell you anything to get you to sign up, then when you show up all high and mighty there is a drill sgt that makes you feel like a little child amazed you are now on your way to learn how to rebuild a hum v engine.

Good luck! Write from the Artic, I know you can add and subtract really well. Not a great advantage in a place there are really cold everydays or in the desert.

I can't remember the Army slogun "Add all you can b"

PS MOS is not enlisted or officer it is your job classification

lol@GOM

I will be reading the fine print whatever i do.

You can read anything you want from basic training, cause they put all the fine print in after you are on the bus after your first week of running around the camp.

Of course I hear you can hold a card up if you get tired, in your case when your fingers get tired from adding and subtracting on your calculator. OH wait bro! I forgot you are a "coooleege" boy, you get it worse than Bubba Bob from Arkansas, he already knows that he is screwed. And they don't make fun of him.

I suggest you go to the local Piggley Wiggley and try a few weeks there before you really hurt yourself.

yeah i was in the infantry. but still the army is the army, some jobs may suck more than others but they still have that control over you. It's not worth it. Only join the Army if you can't make it on your own, the army spoon feeds you. That's why i got out, and the reason guys stayed in is because they got comfortable and didn't care that they were unhappy.

Im exempt from basic (been to marine basic, not exactly piggly wiggly) so its direct to OCS where they are all coooleege grads. thats not exactly something they can skirt in the contract. If thats a fat lie then I would figure it out easily. Im not making any rash decisions and will get all the information I can before doing anything. I hope all vets dont act like you do when someone shows interest in serving in the military.
