Might get laid off. Thinking about joining army...

why warrant officer?? don't want the money??

get married, then go AirForce.. or better yet check federal employment with the degree you'd be a shoein.. or a local university.. those that can't do.. teach... good luck..

+1 for the Air Force

USMC boot camp is sufficient to waive Army basic training but (and this is the big but) your gap in service may require you to go through basic again.

On the other hand you should not be thinking of enlisted with your education. See what opportunities are available for officers. Trust me, entering as an E-1 or E-3 compared to a O-1 is a huge difference, especially with the pay, and the level of B.S. you will have to deal with.

I wasnt thinking enlisted, was thinking warrant officer or officer. Why would I deal with less BS as an officer than as enlisted? I would think its the other way around, as an officer I am responsible for those under me and have to deal with bullshit from officers above.

Never ever ever join the us military for financial reasons. This isn't a game or a paycheck. It's life or death.

For an 18 year old with no way of paying for college, loans are hard to come by, they can get paid to go to college and most likely be a better student and more successful due to the "real world" wake up call you get by serving in an "at war" Army.

Not to mention, when you compare casualty rates it's nothing like wars of the past. During the Ardennes offensive in WWII the US Army suffered 50k dead in roughly a two month period. A soldier today can get the same GI Bill without the same risk of death.

Ask people what they think of soldiers who say "I don't want to go to war! I just signed up for the money".

Signing for money is fine - as long as you don't say shit when you're being deployed, treated like shit, or putting your life on the line. It's the paycheck soldiers who usually bitch the most.
