Midnight lo carb protein shake ok?

I seem to be hungry at around midnight and just wondering if it would be okay to gobble down maybe a glass of milk or some protein shake and go right back to bed. This would be a low carb shake of course. What do you think? any suggestions on anything else to eat/drink would be appreciated.
 
well if you are cutting the carbs in the milk wouldnt be the best idea before bed, though if your on mainteance or bulking and as long as it fits into your daily total cals i think it is fine, the casein protein in the milk will absorb slowly over the night and the protein in the shake, and also the carbs in milk which are sugar (galactose and lactose) actually absorb even slower than oatmeal.
 
If you're cutting, going back to bed and waiting for the breakfast is advised

If you're bulking a shake (casein + water/milk) is a good choice

in both case (unless you need to ingest a lots of calories) carbs are not the best foods in the middle of the night
 
while participating seriously in this sport one should never go to bed hungry. it doesn't matter if you are trying to maintain, bulk or on a cutting cycle.
