Meds and head aches

I've been taking pain killers for a recent injury to my ankle. I mostly take OTC but sometimes i take percs or codein. These weren't prescribed to me, all i got were antiinflamitories (naproxen sodium) but my parents had it and they work pretty well. I take the recommended dose.
Lately i've been getting the worst fucking headaches and i'm guessing it's coming form the meds. (although it could be form stress being that i'm atteningcollege for the first time this friday)

Has anyone ever experienced similar symptoms due to taking pain meds. Thank you :D

I never get headaches when taking vicodins and naproxen. Together or one or the other. I wouldn't think that percocets or codeine would cause headaches.

:(

The meds you are taking should not be giving you a headache. What does the pain feel like and where is it located? And is the pain alwasy in the same area?

Please go see a doctor.

(This is coming from a chronic Migraine sufferer that has been know to to take 12-18 Advils or Motrins per day until she discovered floricet and zomig.)

It may just be stress, but you should still go see a doctor.

Oh and check this out too.

Actually Opiates are my subject.......Yes, they will sometimes cause headaches. vicodan does not because it contains tylenol but percs and codiene most certainly!! They will also on occasions aggravate migraines.

An *opiate* causing headaches?
Never heard that before. hmm Nausea, vomitting or convulsing perhaps... opiates are pain blockers.

Caffeine will help a headache and the blood vessels in the brain and caffiene is found (ironically enough) in migraine medication. (this makes no sense to me as caffiene is a known migraine trigger)

There is vast difference between headaches and the headache that is a symptom of a migraine.

Either way - he should still see a doctor.

Yes, they will cause and contribute to headaches. Why do you think they aren't prescribed in the case of migraines? I am not going to get into the chemical composition and explanation of it cause I don't have time.....I am at work but yes, they can but mainly when wearing off.

Huh, I had no idea.
No really - no sarcasm. :)

(Wearing off - makes sense. Seems odd but makes sense. This way I say "okay" every time my Doc tries a new drug out on my head - sigh...)

What do you know about floricet?

If I am not mistaken that is a barbituate mixed with caffiene.......used a lot on the tension type of headache. I have tried it and liked it in the way that it didn't give ya the icky feelin I feel comes with Midrin and Imitrex.

Sounds like you are getting rebound headaches. Taking tylenol or aspiring (in any form) every day can actually cause headaches even if you are taking recommended dosages. I'm not too sure if this is the case with you since you are taking pain relievers for something else but it wouldn't surprise me.
