Lump from Injection is now Dark Red, Almost Black Check out Pic...

Its been about 56 hours since my shot. The site is dark red now, looks like a bruise. I can feel the knot. It hurts. Should I head to the ER? What should I tell them? I was thinking of saying I did a vitamin B12 injection, would that fly? I can post a pic if you all want. Look for some advice here because I'll head to the ER right now if you guys think I should. Thanks!

yes go to the emergency room and tell the truth. the doctors are not going to call the police. the worst thing you can get is some cautionary advice.

Can't really see much in that picture because of the flash...but it could be an infection. Is it warm/hot? I'd head to the ER just to be safe anyways...also to put your mind at ease.

Signs of an infection . . .
Red
Swollen
Hot to the touch
Fever

Do you have any of these symptoms?

What could have happened in your situation is when you withdrew the pin blood followed it. Instead of all of it completely bleeding out through the injection hole some became trapped in-between the muscle tissue and the skin.

This is of course a laypersons explanation.

I've had this happen to me. Looks like a nasty bruise, but you know you haven't bruised it. It's nothing to worry about.

i agree,if you are not experenced any of the symptoms then i would not worry.i have had much worse bruises, you probably just busted a blood vessle.i really wouldnt worry to much at this point.the bruise will probably be around for awhile, when i get thoese it seems they fade slowly

Go to the ER, the more you wait the more blood will turn into pus. You need to start antibiotics ASAP and have the abscess drained and cleaned. And yes, the Vitamin B12 injection story would work. It is perfectly legal.

Hey all just got back from the ER... Wow that was the fastest ER experience I've ever had. Not that I've been to them a lot or anything... Anyways, the doc looked at it and said it was basically a case of poor technique and that its just like genarr3 said, a lot of blood got caught in between the skin and my ass. He said just keep putting warm presses on it. And in closing he said, NO MORE B12 INJECTIONS!!! :) They bought it perfectly...
