Wtf is this shit all about?

I see these fuckers all over the place. They're always doing 90 on the highway and zipping in and out of traffic like an idiot. Kinda defeats the purpose, don't it?

Some loose hippy bitch in a Prius just zipped out from behind me just to cut me off and turn into a Wendys parking lot. These people need to be set on fire or stoned midevil style.

:fukinskanks:

dude would you rather be stuck behind them while they drive like faggots and take 5 minutes to accelerate to 30 mph

Where do you live? I'm going to move there! I can't get those dang little tin greeniemobiles out of my way around here. They cruise at 59mph in the left lane, holding everybody up and causing angry drivers of Diesels to floor it, belching out immense clouds of dense black sooty smoke when passing on the right. I know they're fast, but nobody around Los Angeles knows where the gas pedal is in a Prius. In Dallas, they're not too common, so no problem there, as the road courtesy of Slower Traffic Keep Right is still observed.

I'd rather them die of dissentary or at least drive like they have some fucking common sense.

They're always Moon bat, left wing liberal nut jobs driving them
What else would you expect

I want to run every Prius over

RW's got real electric props. We've been rolling our home built EV for a year now. No, not a hybrid, an EV. Nuttin under that hood but an old 5sp manual and an old forklift motor. Gets it's juice from a standalone PV array it can carry in the backseat.

absolutely. . .those assholes blow by me, in my suburban, cruising at a reasonable 70mph, getting 21mpg (thank you very much) and they look at me like i'm osama bin laden. . .meanwhile, at 90mph, they're prolly getting about the same gas mileage as me, and they aren't hauling a wife, 3 kids, luggage, boogie boards, coolers, etc, etc. . .nothing worse than a stupid eco-nazi. . .fucktards. . .

letto will be mad at your bashing of her new vehicool

We're bashing the typical drivers... not the cars. It takes a certain personality to want to spend $10K extra for a hybrid that gets the same gas mileage as a 4-cyl gas car, and worse mileage than a $500 VW Rabbit Diesel. Now for those who might buy a Prius because it's a techno-geek gadget, that's different. If I buy one, I'll validate it by loading it up with all kinds of plastic trash, and driving the Prius to a wilderness campground, and using all the toxic plastic to make my campfire that night  . (Not the prius itself as the campfire; just the toxic smoke-producing plastic trash I hauled up there in it). On the way back, I'll fling a cubic yard of asbestos out the window.

I had a Hummer H2 a couple years back and some little pencil-necked idiot in a Prius comes up next to me and flips me off because Im in a Hummer. I wanted to drive over the top of them. Sure I got 10 mpg just like every pickup truck or v-8 SUV on the road.

I did some research and found out that the waste from all the batteries in the Prius do more damage to the environment than the exhaust from the Hummer.

Chevy Volt going to be the same way?

I highly dought that.

It's a different type of pollution, so it would take complicated studies to know which is worse. But in my mind, they're both a form of pollution, and the only difference between a Hummer's consumption of crude oil, and the waste lead-acid batteries from the Prius, is that the money for the special interest groups goes to different pockets.

Fuck the eco-tards....they can all suck my nuts because I'm never going to drive something less than 6 cylinders or under 220hp....I don't give a fuck what gas costs, I'll gladly pay it.

Oh, and I don't recycle either...I toss it in the trash because it's more convenient! Especially at McDonald's with thier sortable garbage bins...like I"m gonna sift through my tray of trash and food waste and pick at it like some sanitation worker...LMAO @ anyone who does. The kooks have you trained well...dance, puppets, dance!

lol

you buy the cars with good mpg so that you can floor it in between 2 block stop signs.

I have a '09 corolla, I drive like an asshole and still get 30 mpg. It's fun. :)

It's actually pretty quick for a 4 banger.

I miss my 4.6l t-bird tho :(

It's the resources used to manufacture the batteries that is eco-unfriendly, not the end of the batteries' lifecycle. The constituent ingredients in the batteries are too precious to junk so they are recovered and reused, but mining, refining and transporting all the materials to make the new batteries is quite ungreen.

All I can say is "wow". Your knowledge on many subjects amazes me.

That is one of the most impressive things I've heard in a while...

How the fuck you build one of those things?

How you get it legal on the road?

This thread is useless without pics of a (Mexican) Homemade EV.

shit I had a bunch of pics, but no one gave a shit. I started threads on two different boards at least and no one was interested. The old HD died and lost all that stuff.

Sure it's legal, but you do have to get it recertified though. Anything you do that changes info on the registration (ie. fuel type) means recert. The process that entails though will of course vary from one state to the next. Georgia provides a pretty decent deduction on state taxes though, so it's well worth the initial hassle. It is a zero emissions vehicle.

Started with a POS 2000 Daewoo. It'd been rolled but was ok except for a bad strut and steering knuckle, but b/c it was a Daewoo we got it for $1600. Then we picked up a used forklift motor for $100 and rebuilt the brushes so it was as good as new. You need what amounts to an adapter to be specially fabbed in order to mate the output shaft of the motor to the existing manual transmission. Got that done at a metals fabricator near my house for $200. We cut out the bottom of the trunk to build an air cooled rack for the batteries, then just loaded it with off-the-shelf car batteries from Advance.

The only really pricey part was the controller. You really want to buy that new. The one we decided on was $2k.

My father is an electrical engineer so we had an expert to school us on how to wire this up. Considering that you're working with mucho fucking amperage, it's wise to be certain of what's up before you bring all that juice together. There are shit tons of how-to vids around though if you want to try it.

That standalone PV setup was $1200. The car is a 4 door so I can pack it in the backseat and take it with me to work and put it down beside the car in the next parking spot. Josh does the same if he drives it to the plant.

lol@ all the Prius owners blaming their crashes on the stuck gas pedal
pwned by investigators

That is cool. Very cool.

kia soul
in alien green

it's awesome.

Just "built" on on the Kia site. Very sassy, chica! Reminds me a lot of the first gen Scion xB that sadly Toyota revised to look like everything else on the road.

For some dumb reason though the best color they offer, the alien green you bought, isn't offered on the sport model.

i know. and the orange isn't offered on the exclaim model I got.
the orange is a hot color too btw, but i LOVE the green. a guy in a bmw suv stopped me in the grocery store parking lot the other day and today our office mailman asked to speak with the owner of the soul... I came out of my office and he asked if he could see the inside because he wants one.

i'm happy with it.

I think he just wanted you to get inside with him so he could go postal.
Is there enough room to do the nook nook?
