pretty harsh assessment. i'm sure he was pretty cool otherwise.

Feynman talks about Bohr quite a bit in his books. Bohr's real name is Nick something, and he changed it for some reason I can't recall. Apparently, he had a very strong accent and was hard to understand (unlike his son). Bohr was nearly a god in his time, though.

His model of the atom sucked. He's the reason people think electrons are tiny little balls spinning in an orbit around a nucleus.

That and the whole conservation of energy thing are terrible lies they need to stop teaching in high school.

Him and Mr. Tompkins in Paperback

I'd vote Feynman but I'm concerned that it might be premature.

"Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! is an edited collection of reminiscences by Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist. It expounds upon his human side with a number of personal and mostly humorous anecdotes, detailing everything from his forays into hypnotism to his fascination with safe-cracking and his fondness for topless bars, ..."

I'm sick of reading about karma-whoring people complaining that their virtual green dots might not procreate as fast as before.

So in that vain, this is a karma award thread. Feel free to post anything personal-chat related, science related, or just say "hi". I will award these points to whoever I think makes the biggest contribution to this board [in general, not in this thread]. If it is a tossup, I will award the multiple parties equally.

"What I cannot create, I do not understand" — Richard P. Feynman

Feynman was one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965.

I hold to a variation of that: if I can't explain something from basic principles than I don't understand it.

I find that there seems to be ever less that I do understand.

If you happen to stumble across the link and remember to post it up, I'd be grateful.

Ooh, I was busy with the RBS... bombing Lestat and stuff. Lemme go downstairs and get it.
