Thanks all!! Still have a TON to do to prepare - no rest for the weary.

And my legs ache - not muscle achy - but in a weird way.....Hmmmmmm

Bought 2 real CHEAP bras today ($4 each) that I won't care get Protan on them - I'm now a C cup!! :bawling:

Mine have been to. I am not sure if it's b/c of introducing new excercises to my routine or if a cold is settling in my legs. It's hurting where my leg connects to my torso. Who knows.

How are you feeling?

Your light as a feather!!

I know, I can't believe it!! I feel ok - weird leg pains & I'm tired.......

I still have a TON of work to do to prepare - so I have a looooong day ahead of me! :worried:

Hey girl! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show is ALL YOU!

And you're 2 days away from eating something you can enjoy!

**Interesting note: [talk about learning things about your body!]

Yesterday - for Meal 1 ate 4 oz steak + 1/2 cup mashed sweet potato to see what would happen. Abs looked flat & soft - not really defined. Rest of the day was the usual - baked chicken & sweet potato or baked chicken/fresh green beans/flax oil

Today - meal 1 was 3 oz. baked chicken + 1/2 cup sweet potato and TODAY my abs looked SO MUCH better!! Obliques are visible & I had good ab definition & lower abs were FLAT!!

So I'm going with the chicken + sweet tater for meal 1 tomorrow!!

Great job in taking notice :)

YAYY for abs - can't wait to see your pics :Perk:

You must spread some Karma around before giving it to jenscats5 again.

Just look at the difference!!

You are defiantly a winner ;)

Now go & strut that bod

Well hot damn. YOU LOOK AWESOME! And you are seriously getting some nice cuts in your quads. Really nice shape. Posing, just remember to keep your shoulders as your points to pull out the farthest to emphasize the V. (Well actually for figure girls its more of a "Y") - make that your wide point and not your elbows or rounding out your shape.

But amazing progress & results! VERY BIG PROPS!

I'll be waiting for the show pics!

Thanks guys! A LOT of hard work!

Looks like it paid off tho! What a difference the "right" diet does huh?

Damn!!!!

I just choked on my food.... thanks.... I think I can breathe now!!!!

Jens you look In-friggin-credible!!!! I love the cuts in the legs.....

I think you need to hire a mascot that looks like you to do the worm at your next contest. Like in those starbucks adds for Hank when he has the job interview.

Kick some ass tomorrow chicka.

This diet was a complete 180 from the last one - I think that played a MAJOR part in this change. Definitely a better diet for me.

WOW!!! You look incredible, you've done an Awesome job w/your transformation!! Another example of what training, diet and inner strength can do!!

Good Luck today!! :)

Made it thru the morning show!!!! Yayyyyy!! And NYCgirl made it up & hubby was able to find her at the train station. Not sure how well I did -- the one quarter turn (from the back to the right side) wasn't a good one for me as I kept wobbling.

Will let you all know later tonite how it went!!

I bet she is enjoying her food and water right about now.

As of RIGHT NOW - it's more like coffee & a cookie!! ;)

The Results:

Novice Figure: 2nd place (that's 2 places UP in 1 month!) - out of 4 girls
Master's figure: 1st (out of 2 competitors)
Ms. New Castle County Figure: 1st (8 foot Tropy!!)

LOL We had to take the feet off the trophy to get it to fit in the house!!

ANDDDDDDDDDDD - I asked for feedback from a judge - here's what he told me: I have NO back - Quote - You need a back and you have a fat ass & you need more of a quad sweep.

Um - ok then ! Thanks! ;) WELLLLLLLLLLLL - it turns out - he's buddies with FRED & HIS GIRL got beat by me .......... so there! Interesting huh??

NYCgirl's opinion is that I should've won 1st in Novice.

A fellow competitor, all around NICE guy, AWESOME athlete and fellow OCB member put a bug in my ear to go ahead & eat tonite & tomorrow, see what I look like Monday - up the water, get back on the diet & do the Charm City Classic on October 1 in Baltimore...........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

*thinking* :mix:

That's fantastic news. Congratulations Jens, you deserve all the accolades. Most definitely an inspiration for us newbies.

NOW THAT'S A BIG FAT pHucK pHRed! I LOVE IT and you EARNED IT!

THe judge's comment - I guess it really depends on how jaded the guy / girl is. Some of them have been doing it so long that they feel they are "God" when it comes to handing out opinions. Its unfortunate when they give you criticism rather than constructive criticism. But in this case, hmmmm, sour grapes politics maybe? Screw 'em - you did the show for you. YOu just happened to come back with the hardware.

SO PROUD GIRL! I can hardly wait to see you in that fantastic blue w/ the 8 footer!

^^ Had to come on and say Congrats again for stepping it up JC.

As long as you don't take the judges comments to heart, use them for future knowledge as what to work on if you decide to compete next year.

Funny how people have a way with words eh?

I always feel there is always room for improvement which but for this weekend, enjoy yourself, you've earned it.

Wishing you well if you decide to do Baltimore. :rose:

Can't wait for :Perk:

Jen you did you sleep surrounded w/ your trophies??

LOL Nooooooooooo.......... the one is so tall that it's pretty much stuck where it is right now!

And yes, I agree with Buns - it's not always what you say, but how you say it - and I was kinda surprised as to how that judge worded his comments. Wish the pics had turned out so you all could see what the other girls looked like. I'm going to email the promotor & see if I can possibly email the head judge for comments as he was busy talking to others last nite & I didn't want to interrupt.

Ah well - I know what my "weak" points are - so it's more uphill walking lunges for me!! LOL

WOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you would rock!!

congrats girlie.. you deserve this and so much more!!!

and those judges can kiss my ass!!!

I emailed the promoter this morning to see if I can contact the head judge for comments.

Plus I'm hoping the NPC will post the score sheets on their site - we'll see!

First off congratulations thats a lot of hardware to be bringing home. Those comments from the judge were not professional at all. Those comments sound very personal and have no place in the sport. Next time you compete you should talk to more than one judge. If you have a couple of people telling you the same things then you know that's what you need to improve.

That's exactly what I thought - that it wasn't a professional or objective comment at all. And last nite at home - when my hubby told me that particular judge had been hanging all over another competitor - that 'splained it for me. I emailed the promoter to see if I can get in touch with the head judge.

And Ulter - thank YOU hun!! BIG HUG!!

Holy Crap! I just took a look at your journal which I havent in a long time and your pics! OMG! I didnt know you were doing a second competiton. Woah! Great work!

Hey Jen,

I saw that you were cycling carbs. How did you run yours? high/low/no ? 2carbs/2no carbs? Just curious. You leaned ot so nicely.

I was following that because my first trainer had me doing that. It DID NOT work for me and was so complicated I can't explain it to you. The mood swings were HORRENDOUS and I felt crappy the whole time.

The past 4 weeks were basically 40/30/30.

Congrats, congrats congrats! I am so proud of you and inspired. You did a fantastic job and you deserve the best.

The judge was NOT tactful in his comments, but I am sure he had an "ulterior motive" to try and be bitchy to you. Not exactly professional. But whatever.

But, I will agree with him in some instances - although I will try to say it nicer. :) Keep in mind, this is my opinion only, based only off the pictures you posted Friday. I hope nobody thinks I am trying to rain on Jen's parade right now, that is not my intent. I obviously think she has done a great job and only want to see her continue to improve and succeed.

Your shoulders are broad, which is great. But, next to them, your legs look VERY small. I do think you need to work on adding more meat to them, specifically, the quads and then thickness to hams. Focusing on these parts should even help round out your butt. I do not think you have a "fat ass", but you could add more "depth" and/or thickness to it. I think this would help balance you out VERY nicely.

Back, well, most women need help with their back (lats). It is a tough area to add to. Even Kelly Ryan was slammed for years for not having a back. It is one of those things you REALLY have to work on HARD to get. It is NOT something that will happen in the next few months - it is a goal you should set for next year's season. Yes, start working on it now, but it will take lots of time for it to come.

Great job! :)

Well, my group of friends saw him hugging on another competitor - and I think I did better than she did. I'm very happy with my placing - a 2 spot move up in 1 month! That's darned good IMO.....especially being so new at this, like I am....

I know I need work on my posing - that will come in time & practice.

I don't think I have a "fat ass" but it & my hams are my weak spot and I think I need to "firm" that area up. Any suggestions for how to do that?

And I find it hard to get my lats to pop out - which I think a lot of women have trouble there. Suggestions for that also?

And THANKS!!

*Wipes tear*

I LOVE it when you guys exceed my personal expectations.

VERY VERY PROUD OF YOU JEN!!

Jens, CONGRATULATIONS on the tropies and placing...you really are an inspiration to the rest of us. I just got in from NYC and had to get online right away to see how you did...hope you're enjoying your cheat meals today!

OK here's a pic. They turned out too dark but we were able to lighten 1 up (this was a practice editing of the pic) - if this works I'll do more.

The girl in the red with her hand up got 1st in Novice, I was 2nd.

You SHOULD be proud. You have worked your ASS off, and the placings are great for *anyone*, and especially you being a novice competitor! That says a lot for how hard you have worked and how far you have come. It is impressive, to say the very least.

I must admit, I have not really read in detail your actual workout routine. (sorry) But I would start focusing on the BIG lifts and movements. You need to add size - which can come especially from things like squats, SLDL, and regular deads. I would focus hard on form and lifting heavy. The off-season should be your time to really work on adding size - like 24k is doing. Even implementing some powerlifting-style workouts could be beneficial.

I think the Oct 1st comp would be good to do, more practice. But it should probably be your last one this season. Next season starts around March - which is not a lot of time to work on adding muscle then cutting the fat. But now you know your body better, so cutting *should* be a smoother experience (theoretically).

It is also worth keeping Tracy in the off-season to meet with you to work on posing. Even meeting her 1-2x a month would help you.

I don't think I'm going to do the Oct 1 show - for 2 reasons. I'd like a week off & some time to relax & settle down & celebrate our anniversary. Plus since I joined the NPC for yesterday's show & it was $70 & it expires in 2 months & may choose to do another NPC show instead. There's one in NJ in very early November - I think Nov. 5th - so I may do that one instead. The Oct 1st show is an OCB show where my membership is good until next July.

My winter/off-season is going to be weird. I need to develop a plan around skiing as I got a share in a ski house (runs from end Nov to mid-May) & plan on being in VT skiing most of the winter.

Anyway - I noticed my butt tightened up somewhat nicely with Tracy adding in uphill walking lunges & the Stairmaster in addition to the SLDLs & squats I was already doing. Fred had had me doing Sumo squats which looked to me helped my quads so I may add them back in.

Jen, the best thing I could say about that pic is that you look like you belong up there.

Congrats! I worked until 3 am this morning & was thinking about you the whole time because yesterday was supposed to be my show as well.

Thank you Sassers!! I felt like I was more competitive this time.

Thanks for thinking of me at 3am!! We should do a show together some time!! NYCgirl suggested it - I think it'd be a good idea!!

If what you started adding in was working, then keep it up!

A lot of what you do to help with skiing can help with competing .... plyometrics would be GREAT for skiing, plus can help add muscle to legs. Also, the uphill lunges are good for both.

No reason you can't do both things. The season is long .... you don't have to compete early in the season - you can always do it late summer like you did this year.

Oh yeah definitely!! Seeing how - just in the past 4 weeks - how the Stairmaster + the uphil lunges worked - I'll definitely keep doing them.

As for the ski season - I'll be in VT for weeks at a time, then home for a short period of time so I won't be able to go to my gym much. I either need to find a gym up there or some other alternative. The skiing itself will be my cardio.

The one show I definitely want to do next year is the June 11 OCB show here in DE plus this same one again + the Bristol, CT one again & maybe the June 25 East Coast Classic --> but that's a HUGE show, so we'll see.

**Another story - the vendor they have that sells clothes & stuff pulled me aside after the morning show & commented on what a great stage presence I have. What a nice thing to say & do!!!

One thing I did this show is I had 2, literally 2, sips of red wine backstage. It really helped!! LOL
