I need to get a new plan so I can get back on track.....I feel like I'm in a rowboat without a paddle - feel kinda lost right now...

IMO in the 1st week after your show you must gradually increase the intensity of your workout, because in the previous weeks you were taking carbs off your diet and going under normal levels of energy... will you be having another show soon? or what was the plan post competition that your trainer set to you?

Don't feel too bad. The junk will help you you do have a month. Last year I competed in the same show as a guy that was doing the Masters National the next week. He was eating chips and burgers and fries and piazza. He only had six days till his next show. What happend? Well he cam in tighter the next week and won wis class at the Masters Nationals. Just get back on your diet and you will be fine. :)

I called Fred's gym & cancelled my appts. with him for this week.....

I met with Tracy (diff. gym) this morning & she evaluated me in my suit & shoes. She said with how I look now - I should consider doing the Thursday (yes - this Thursday!) Heineken Model Search at a local restaurant/bar just to get used to being on stage. Plus they give out prizes so I might win something.

She looked over my meal plan from 8/13 on, water intake, etc.....said my cals were too high most of the time & my diet was more of an "off season" diet. Plus - my water was too high (2 gallons) on Mon/Tues the week of the show.

She wants me to break up my cardio into 2x a day @ 30 mins at a time & to start including the Stair Master. Abs = 3x a week & Lunges = 3x a week + add Pylometrics. She said she'd email me a diet/workout program. Oh and she wants to see me again Thursday morning for a dedicated posing practice!!

Jen...the email log got scrambled...but what you pmed me....she's right on - cals WAY too high(we discussed that), the water manipulation was off as was the sodium loading and carb loading...if you can call it that



30 minutes of cardio twice per day is NOT the way to go however.....knowing that it takes a few minutes to get into the fat burning mode, you really only might get 15-19 minutes of true fat burning zone per cardio session..unless you do it AFTER weights and on low carb intake.

If you are doing low carbs..I think it"can" work on a split session....


Once first thing am....



then after weights..unless you train in the am..then after your last meal....


Even that scenario isnt as good as a longer session first thing am.

Well I don't have my meal plan yet....so I'll see what the carbs are then....

I'd be weight training in the afternoon.....so I could do another CV session then....

I was thinking of doing CV outside around the Riverfront (run/walk) then do my lunges up Hell Hill.

I'd still be walking to the gym 30 mins each way on lifting days too.....

Jens I truely believe that with alot differnt diet, carb up, etc and then with more guidence.. you'd have come in tighter. There was no logic behind why he did what he did.

I've talked to you about it... and I know you just wanted to do what he said... I firmly believe either you are gonna trust your trainer with everythign and follow it to a T.. or just not have one. So that first sign of you trust wavering you have to make a call...

I sucked at this and I question EVERYTHING... I know i'd have been dropped had I even had a trainer. I'm too much of a PITA that has to understand every minor detail before I can do anything. You can't just tell me "do it cause its what I say to do" I'll look at you like you have eyes on your forehead or something.. .That shit doesn't cut it for me.

Yep - Tracy pretty said that my diet was more off-season & could have been manipulated better.....Plus I seem to hold water easily as well as bloat/gas up easily as well.....

Fred not showing, which I understand family emergencies, but NOT CALLING was the straw that broke the camel's back for me....then put the onus on me that I'm to call HIM...ummmmm, nope...communication!!

Hmmmm...wonder if he'll give me the evil eye at the Sept. show?? :evil:

Yep - I think cals were too high also on some days then drastically dropped too low - don't see why it couldn't be more gradual/steady.....

I didn't even drop my cals jens... I stayed at the same calories for the entire cutting process. With minuplation of my carbs the fat just melted off.

IMO

my 1cent.. hee hee

Your cals look good. Carbs I think depends on you alot.. I had to seriously get low on my three low carb days. ONLY veggies and it was around 50-60grams. On my high carb days I went up to about 110 give or take.

my biggest mistake was lack of fats IMO. My protein was sometimes 180-200g a day.

on my high days it went something like this.. (just dug it up in fitday)

1467/46(Fat)/93(carb)/170(protein)

Low day

1402/51(fat)/40(carb)/201(protein)

now it took me alot of playing around to figure out how my particular diet needed to be. I went up and down and played with ratio's etc. This just seemed to work for me.

And then I wen back and checked out some pics and realized how well it did work. I realized I cut some serious fat in 3 weeks. Ill have to post those up.

so listen to YOUR body. That is the only way you can fine tune it. ;)

Well - EVERYTHING bloats me. I bloat simply from eating.

I think my fats were too low under Fred's plan. I've read that low fat can kill testosterone production & kill your sex drive. Well, mine disappeared completely.

Can you give me a sample menu plan just so I can get an idea of food combos??
 
Jens you might want to try coconut oil for your 1 of your fat sources, it helps rise your testosterone production.

I'll get a my it all together for you and send you a pm. Its very simple and of course repetative but effective. Not a wide selection of foods but i was ok with that.

Asuume 400 cals for the carbs.


then figure bodwweight times 4 cals for total protein cals....



then add those 2 numbers together....subtract from the 1300-1500 total...and divide by 9 for fat grams,
 
I juist saw your last meal posting..looks good.


basically a 45/35/20 split.

Close enough to a 40/30/30 for me anyway.

True.....I think 24 was asking why you are supplementing as opposed to getting them through protein supps like a shake.

Are they automatically in protein powders??? If so, didn't know that....

And I wasn't having shakes before - so no shakes = no BCAAs.....

A lot of shake poeders have a complete Amino acid profile...that is NOT to say that the aminio pills dont have their place
 
Jens, I've been lurking for the last few months. Given my $.02 (which are worth just about that) Anyway, I wanted to let you know how absolutely stunning your pictures are (contest/otherwise) You should absolutely do the Heini thing!!! Congrats on all YOUR hard work. You deserve all the credit in the world for showing the way you did despite the crappy training advice (trainer). Absolutely magnificent!

I was just wondering why you are taking them at the times you are taking them that's all.

And yes they are in protein shakes, and in protein period.

Well I was following the directions on the bottle - says to take 3x daily so I was taking them when I took them just to try to spread them out a bit....

Nope - I noticed the weight drop once I was a few days into the new diet. And it just keeps dropping.

The Colon Cleanse doesn't cause any extreme reactions - just keeps the mail going thru normally.......

I DO have a question.....what g of protein should I be getting at this point?? Like, no more than 150g per day?? If so - then I won't be as high on my calories.....So I'll only be around 1100 - 1200 cals then....

And I'm finding that all carbs - oats & potatoes - make my stomach poochy so Tracy suggested today only veggies starting Sunday....whatchu think?

And I feel freakin' exhausted all the time.....ugh!

I'm not Shadow, but from what you've said before about being 'poochy' and previous advice... I think this is a fabulous idea, specifically losing the oats.

I dumped the Prolab Cuts & the Lipo 6 - also had to discontinue the Radical Fighters as the store was out & I ran out - coincidentally - my face cleared up once I stopped them......

As for the diet - I'm eating much fewer cals - BUT a steady amount of calories, protein & carbs. Fred had me 1 day eating 2500 cals with 200g of carbs to 900 cals with 21g of carbs the next day......So I'm more "evened out" with everything.....The vicious mood swings are gone - I still have some slight crankiness (my general personality tho) and the libido really hasn't come back.

It seems that any starchy or other carb (besides veggies) pooches out my tummy....I was going to experiment today/tomorrow & just eat oats but I think starting Sunday I'll just switch over to all veggies......that way when I see Tracy on Tuesday morning - hopefully my tummy will be flatter....

At this point - you arent going to put on lean mass...I would drop the protein to 1 gram per pound......


drop the starches one by one to see if you can isolate the problem...as you will need at least ONE startch when you carb load.



also dropping the protien and carbs a bit will allow a snack of fat to help with hunger if need be

Well after 1 meal today (oats + egg whites) my stomach was poochy....so it looks like everything does it..... *sigh*

And I can't have a snack of fat - like ANPB for example - as I just can't limit my amounts....So I'm taking 2 flax oil pills a day now....

Are you sure sweet potato and regular potatoes do it too? Have you taken a day and not had any oats at all?

If the answer is no, try taking out the oats in the morning and replacing with sweet potato and see what happens, if that doesn't work try regular potato, if that doesn't work maybe rice cakes :worried:

Yes tomorrow morning have sweetpotato,for your 1st meal and for the rest of your carb meals. I know it's going to be weird eating sweet potato in the morning, but you got to find the carb that's not going to bloat you :)

Yes tomorrow morning have sweetpotato,for your 1st meal and for the rest of your carb meals. I know it's going to be weird eating sweet potato in the morning, but you got to find the carb that's not going to bloat you :)

**Glad to see my morning temp is back up to normal - it's been dropping/low lately. Also slept very late this morning - needed that. HOWEVER - I'm feeling very tired still & have literally NO energy. Could NOT do my morning cardio and as today is Leg day - I'll need what tiny amount of energy I have for that. I sent Tracy an email advising her of this. I'm finding it very difficult to keep up with this workout schedule.

**On a side note - My abs were flat as a board today....

** One Week Until Peak Week!!**

**SIGH! I had a lot of trouble falling asleep last nite, then couldn't stay asleep. Woke up around 4:30am & couldn't go back to sleep - so I laid there for a while. Finally got up around 6:00am.....today will be a miserable day.....

**NO morning cardio today....legs are SORE...

**Abs were looking decent this morning...

Are you going to take any time off after this comp.? Maybe your body needs a rest. It could be over load on your mind preventing you from sleeping well and getting to sleep.

I have sleeping problems mainly due to hormonal changes so I take 500Mg of mag.,500 mg primrose oil and 1000 mg vit.C before bed each night as part of my all natural therapy and I'm doing alot better.

Yeah, most likely - not sure if I'm going to do another comp this year or not...
