Jenscats Countdown to Competition Log

Necia, have you compared either of those products to Cardio Breeze or Thermorexin?

San's Tight is similar but has only half the active ingredients and they have dropped the black tea extract that was actually their best ingredient.

Lipo 6 is based on ingredients we used in Liporexin that have become to weak in the last year because a consistant quality is impossible to acheive for the labs making it. Which was why we stopped making it and developed the Levorex formula.

The bottom line is that neither product is even close in effectiveness or potency to the products at the AF Store.

Hey Ulter,

I've yet to try the Cardio Breeze. I've used the T-rex before, and I loved what it did for me throughout the day and especially how it aided my progress in the gym. But, the way I felt at night in the evening, I couldn't stand it. Very Lethargic, moody, and enough attitude to realize, I needed to stop or risk insulting someone I love, or slapping up a complete stranger. What do you suggest, as I did want to place an order for Glucorell and would love to order more than 1 thing (i hate that).

quite true.

both tight and lipo-6 are based on the SYC stack, which is significantly less effective than the SMYC stack in thermorexin.

Thermorexin v. lipo-6

1 cap of thermorexin has almost as much synephrine as 2 caps of lipo-6
caffiene wise they are fairly equivalent 2caps=apprx 200mg
1 cap of thermorexin has as much bioperine (piperine) as 2 caps of lipo-6
1 cap of thermorexin has as much yohimbine as 2 caps of lipo-6
plus thermorexin has vinpocetine, altyr, alcar, EGCG, and most importantly Black tea extract (50% methylxanthines) as well as supportive nutrients like p5p which lipo-6 does not.

Thermorexin v. Tight
here doses are closer with respect to synephrine, caffeine, yohimbine, vinpocetine and bioperine.
though as above thermorexin has altyr, alcar, and most importantly Black Tea extract (50% methylxanthines) as well as supportive nutrients like p5p which tight does not.

both tight and lipo-6 contain guggulsterones. Guggulsterone HAVE NEVER beens shown to have any thryoid effects, as is claimed. They have been shown to RAISE LDL cholesterol (contrary to claims) as well as the fact that guggulsterones are promiscous steroid ligands. They are anti-androgenenic, weakly estrogenic and have fairly strong progestenic activity.

The methylxanthine and caffiene stack in thermorexin, also found in cardio breeze, has been shown to be as effective as ephedrine and caffiene in raising metabolism.

Basically neither of these products is comparable to thermorexin

to finish up prolab cuts 2 (an analysis)
some low gradefat loss support ingredients (carnitine v. alcar, choline B v. CDHC, pyroxidine v. P5P, etc...)with diuretics. the last ingredients the proprietary blend of uva ursi, buchu etc. is what gives it the appearance of any effects they are diuretics and laxatives.

btw- unless those tablets are MASSIVE there is no way that 2 of them= what they claim on their label over 1700mg per tablet.

They're pretty darn large tablets - VERY hard to swallow. And they smell like fertilizer!! :worried:

Oh and I take one tab 3x a day.....

So you're saying Cuts & Lipo 6 are crap, huh??

cuts yes-

lipo-6 is not "crap" but its quite a bit shy of thermorexin. Its a mid to low range product with a huge amount of advertising as is tight.

Macro,

Which one of AF supps should I take to avoid the Lethargic feeling. The thermo made me "speedy", and then I crashed in the evening. I was having flashbacks of when I used to like that feeling. Me don't like feeling like that any more. Any suggestions?

cardio breeze is much more even, without the yohimbine and synephrine drop that can come with thermorexin.

Believe it or not - after having the ANPB last nite - this morning I was "harder" than usual -- more cut too.....

My sample fabrics/suits came!!! They are tiny!! :worried:

And Miss-Missy: Thank you girl..... I needed that!!

Sa-weet! How's your body reacting? Sore? Ache? Tighter? I just love em (when I can walk...) :verygood:

Actually, with all the cardio I AM doing (6 days a week for 55 mins each; Jump Rope 3x a week; Sprints 2x a week + Walking to/from the gym for 1 hour 4x a week) I'm exhausted, tired all the time, can't sleep & cranky.... LOL

And IMO I look soft.....no real muscle definition showing....

I’m sorry to hear that JC.

IMO, I really think the roping & sprinting would have helped tremendously if implemented earlier. I hope you will see improvements over the next 2 weeks, but definitely better results by the Sept show… Keep up the hard work :rose:

Actually, you're prolly correct...... Although I am getting better at Jump Roping -- I don't get it tangled around my head as much.... LOL

It just seems my bod wants to resist dropping fat.....I thought I'd look a LOT more cut by now.....it's weird....

Water plays a big part in looking hard. If you haven't cut out the diet soda by now IMO i'd do that now.

I kinda looked at your diet this past few days, and i'll be the first to say that I am by far no expert but it seems you are doing a bit of complex carbs daily... and then on your carb up more complex. Maybe you need to tweak that a bit and stick to Fiber carbs on your low carb and then hit the complex only on your carb ups.

Just my .02

I guess we'll see what he throws at me tomorrow carb-wise too....should be interesting....

Having a trainer is awesome Jens, but don't discount the fact that you have to listen to your body too.

No one person is alike and like all other trainers he's using standards.. the more feedback you give the better.. the more questions you ask the better. Don't wait and wait for him to say.. hey maybe we should change this esp if you are not seeing the improvements you want.

he's still learning you, but you also have to know you. If you feel one food isn't cutting it then let it be known.

Not saying that you aren't talking to him and i guess thats why i would have a hard time with a trainer because my diet changed alot. I didn't have time to wait to get with someone to make a call... I just did it and then evaluated my progress and then changed again if need be.

Though I am sure having someone to evaluate with me would have been a huge benifit to me, I'd prolly have pissed them off cause if it was something i felt would hinder my progress no way would I even consider doing it. (like the trainer guy that tried to help me)

The best arsenal you can possess now is learning the way your body responds.

Competition dieting is a long road towards training your body to look a certain way, and it is especially hard the first time around if you haven't got your body at a good baseline. You can't force things to happen quickly. Again that is why I always say to set up a couple different shows because you should do the show you are ready for, not force your body to hit a particular date if it isn't ready.

And like Frisky said, especially hard workign with a trainer that doesn't know your body, you don't really know how your body responds to different diet manipulations, but it is absolutely in your best interest to get the shit out of the diet ASAP. He may not have said you need to get rid of the diet soda, but I'm sure he didnt' say keep it in either. It is just one more thing that your body has to process that could bog it down from setting up for an efficient burn rate.

And just for the record, there are people who have dieted months longer than you have to get a competition shape and still had issues. So please just be very patient with it. This is just one more aspect of competition that makes it not an easy thing open to just anyone.

I agree.. I started my training and prep Nov 04 and planned my comp for July 05... had alot of major ups and downs and alot of time to tweak here and there.

and STILL after all of this time I had major room for improvements.

Jens, pull the bottoms (sides) up a little higher on the waist.

Go with a lighter fabric, but the overall cut is good.

I like the red like frisky said pull it up more... but the blue...umm... your right it makes you look thicker... go with a flater fabric for that suit. I really like the cut on the back though

Well, these are just the samples - they have numbers on all the straps, etc.....I guess so I put it on & tell her what everything is....

The color I'm going with is like a cobalt/royal blue lycra material + I'm arranging to buy a 2 piece black suit off Diva Exchange in a black slinky material with multi-color glitter.....

Jen, I'm going to throw a couple more opinions at you, that you probably don't want!

First, on your poses, bring your arms a little closer to your body. Your hands should be able to touch your legs or sides, they shouldn't be so far away from your body.

Second, diet. I agree with Frisky and Sassy. You have to do what you feel is best for your body. If you're not getting the progress you want, you need to make some changes. It does look like an aweful lot of complex carbs on a daily basis. You're eating a whole cup of oats and rice several times a day. Isn't one serving more like 1/2 cup? I'd cut that out, or at least down a lot, except on your carb up days. And probably want to get rid of the protein powder and diet soda ASAP.

I just think you've worked too hard to sit around waiting for someone else to say, okay, today is the last day you can have diet soda, or whatever. Take some initiative.

Everyone has made some excellent points!! Since this is my first comp - I've been hesitant to deviate from Fred's plan. #1 being that he can track what he's doing vs. how my body looks. #2 since I've never done this before I'm not quite sure how my body reacts to X, Y & Z and I wanted to stick to Fred's plan to see how it goes.

Now I'm beginning to see that I think oatmeal bloats me.......since I see him at 1:00 pm today I'm sure there will be more changes made.....

I found I built up a tolerance to it -- started out with 1 then after a while I needed 3, but I don't think you need to take a break from it. I stopped taking it recently cuz of all the other stuff I'm taking.....

Yeah, I do think you build up a tolerance for this stuff. I have started taking a few days off, and sometimes surprise myself to see I can still do my am cardio without popping three of these suckers in. But regardless, it's a great kick in the a$$ when you need it and I do recommend it.

Cool, thanx. I think I'll give it a try. Some of the other stuff on the market right now is really disappointing. THANX FOR THE HELP. I usually do ok but I think I could really improve with a little bit of pre workout energy help. I will order some.

CB is the SHIZNIT! I can't handle any thermos right now-- I"m pretty much burnt from using them on my last comeptition round -- so most of them just immediately put me to sleep or set me up for a panic attack. CB is a nice smooth easy eye-opener. Not an eye-popper, but just all of a sudden an hr of cardio at 5 am goes from drudgery to actually sorta fun & maybe I'll do more :)

well what did Mr. Fred say?

He's excited & happy.....happy with my weight (126 on his scale after 2 meals) & my bf% (11.6%).

I'm to: stick with my current meal plan, then on Saturday start this long, intensive deplete. However, on Saturday night, from 8-9pm I can eat whatever I want!! But no alcohol.... :p :p :p

Workout rotation stays the same.....I'll be added BCAAs & Dandilion root....

NO MORE diet soda or mustard......he said I can still have hot sauce (which I won't be), Crystal light, splenda, Mrs dash, red wine vinegar, cayenne pepper & green tea.

On Sunday 8/21 I'm to start adding Salt to my food......

Very nice Jens :)

I'm confused you're going to start depleting on saturday, but eat what you want sat. night? Or did I mis-read this?

Nope you didn't mis-read.....I start a new meal plan on Sat but get to eat whatever in the evening....

He wants me to have that "cheat" or whatever before I really start the depletion....

Couple reasons.

Protein powder is typically made with water - as you get closer you can't ahev the extra water in the shake or food preparation (i.e., oatmeal).

Protein powder can cause bloating.

Bascially, as you get closer to comp, your food should be simple, basic, and boring.

wow jen, what a log!

I have a question you guys, I have heard about cutting out diet soda, but why are you telling her to cut out protein powder? Is there something in it that hinders you? Or are you just telling her to eat more solid foods so she won't be as hungry?

It don't matter at this point what the food is.......... I AM CONSTANTLY STARVING!!!!!!!!

The Dietex isn't curbing my hunger..... :bawling:

Sorry you are so hungry. That sucks. But it IS worth it. Keep your chin up (and out of the ice cream)!

When you start getting closer to comp day, you are to the point of totally optimized food consumption for optimized fat loss, water loss and muscle fullness. That means you have to account for every little thing you put into your body. Protein mix, even the really good stuff, is alot of processed stuff & some filler as well as the water you mix in and any bloat, etc. Also because it is water, it tends to get processed fairly quickly. As Jen is experiencing, food starts getting pretty tight towards the end, so you want to get the most of out what you eat and also let it metabolize as it is supposed to.

Note that others may not agree with this approach, but particularly with someone going thru their first competition who doesnt' really know how their body will respond or their body is still trying to get to a known baseline for future tweaks, the simpler the diet, the better. That means REAL FOOD. Anything artificial can require extra processing by the body, cause bloat, or any of a slew of other issues. It probably won't kill you but since it is all about manipulating your body to look a certain wy at a certain time of day on comp day, there's just no reason nor anythign to be gained by complicating it.

i believe you are starving.. litteraly... IMO your cals are way to low.. but thats just my opinion.

to go from 1700 to less than 900 is way to much. I cut on 1400 clean cals. never dropped below and didn't kill myself with cardio... I was barely hungry just a little cranky due to low carbs.

Jen -

I"m just curious -- is there someone this guy has trained before for a show that you can talk to to find out how this schedule works?

I agree too that the extreme changes in calories would really make me miserable. Honestly that is one thing I liked about my trainer's approach to diet in that nothing is an extreme switch, but rather a slow & deliberate transition from day to day so there is no shock or rebound effect.

Otherwise, welcome to the big time. There is no experience more shocking than the last week or two of comp prep as you come in -- the changes are just as dramatic as the stress on your body/mind/complete being.

sure.. yea she won.. but did she decide in times of need that she listend to her body? You need to talk to her

for example.. the guy that tried to help me .. I found out that he's giving all this advice.. shitty advice if I must say and to not hurt his feelings or make shit they just said YEA I'm doing it but did their own thing. One of the guys that he helped, that didn't follow his advice to a tee.. won Mr. Louisiana and three other titles this year.. amazing body and I can see him going Pro in a few years.

But he listened to his body, took advice but also had input.

Jens' its not to throw anything at you but I've studied and read and observed alot... for years actually. come comp time I still didn't know shit but took what I knew and then keep seeking out answers to what I didn't know. Learned alot here and watch some amazing transformantions, keep track of their diet and training and just how they did what they did. Though I knew my body was different the concept is basically the same.

In a nutshell, his whole plan is alien to me, I don't understand the logic behind what he is doing. Not to say it won't work.. only you will know come show time if you are where you want to be. If you are happy with your accomplishments. But to be brutally honest with you I wouldn't touch that diet at all. Its not stable and too up and down. Sure you need to give your body a shock now and then but it needs consistancy. It needs to know its getting said amt of cals, etc and it utilizes it and then when cut time comes it still lets go of fat because it thinks its gonna continue to get said amt of nutrition... There is no pattern in his diet.

I am curious to see how this works for you. I know it wouldn't work for me but everyone is individual.

I was 10% give or take a % when I competed. I did this by listening and responding to what my body told me. Its not magic or some secret formula to follow. Its learning how your body responds to differnt comb's of foods and depletion, carb ups, carb deplets.. etc.

He up and left for 10 days.. I would be a bit pissed.. esp when you need him to observe you daily and see what is working or not.

Again, im not trying to discourage you, just concern. and also wanting to see the logic behind what it is expecting from this specific diet.

Well, it's been interesting to see the changes.....Had some good ab-age the other day he took a pic of....it's a page or two back somewhere....

And being I've never done this before - I kinda don't really "know" my body at all.....I don't know what works for me & what doesn't or what will bloat me & what won't......By the end of everyday -- I'm bloated....period....no matter what the day's food entailed....

For example, last Tuesday when I did have the 2 tblsp. of ANPB the next morning I had full-cut abs --> so it's weird to me that something I can't have will make me look "harder." So I did learn something....

And, like, I wouldn't know what to change at this point anyway....

Fred told me before that each diet he does for someone is customized to that person.....

Another thing I've learned is that comp. dieting kills my libido dead -- I have NO interest or desire....none...

understandalble... somethings work some dont. Thats why I am saying listen to your body.

for instance I had to drop broccoli two weeks before comp.. I found It bloated me. Green beans also and I ended up having asparagus my second comp for a week.. yea.. just asparagus yuck.

the oats and rice will cause some bloat, it has water in it. think of rice swelling.. ? make sense. thats why I really didn't understand why this was in your diet everyday.

My diet consited of

lean meat (turkey, taliapa, chicken breast)
greens ( broccoli, green beans, asparagus)
water

for 5 days out the week and then two carb ups that had one meal out of the day that included

Protein lean meat
and sweet potoato and steel cut oats

Simple yet it worked for me.

I don't know your body, Fred doesn't know your body, only you do. I know you have to take close notes, ask a million questions and make alist of what agrees and doesn't and go from there.

don't be afraid to say.. HEY this doesn't work for me. or this bloats me.. etc. Its his only way to learn you. If you don't tell him he won't know. He's only guessing that what he is doing is working

You've seen improvements, as have we all, you have come along way. I've always questioned myself though that if I remove this X item that I know is some way holding me back, then how much better will I look...

You are learning and we are only here to help you learn from experience. I didn't have a trainer, and come the week before that first comp that I took on short notice I had NO idea of what to do. I took advice and even had a back up plan... I learned even then that certain things bloated me and that I had certain foods the next day that made me look even better than when I was on stage.

Its all about Growth, Your own... learning thru experience, taking notes and keeping a journal. Then going back and seeing what did what. share that with Fred so that he can become a better trainer to YOU. He's not a gonna work magic with out the tools you need to provide him with. Its 80% you and 20% him. You are more influential to your sucess than he ever will be.

^^

Well, Mon, Tues & Wed are all days with no oats or rice - so I will take note of the diffs.....

I've got a 4pack now with no flexing but my lower abs are bloated looking now - which could either be the oats/rice or the water....

Actually, I just noticed the oats & rice are gone until next weekend.....and then they are there in small amounts.....but if I notice this week an extreme amount of diff w/o them, then I won't add them back in...

Hmm you're never off line, where are you... Going back to re-read your log, you better not be in the PB jar :velvett:

:bigkiss:

i've never really found dietex to stifle hunger - i.e. it kills my tastebuds but if its time to eat or I need a refeed, my stomach lets me know that. I think that is a fairly big difference. Esp on this restricted diet & big upset in your regular eating schedule, I'd expect you to be freekin' starving too....

As far as the hunger pangs, I *know* they suck the big one. But you're in the home stretch. Don't toss it all now in a hunger panic. If you are on a low carb day (I notice the crazy low cals but if the focus is low carbs, then preserve that part) and about ready to start licking the furniture, I'm not sure it would kill you to toss down an almond or two or just something that will tide you over a bit until the next scheduled feeding time. But make sure you pull out exactly what amount (e.g. 2 almonds) you are allowing yourself to eat & then put the rest away, launch them out the back door or whatever it will take to keep you from binging.

And stay focused on your goal in less than 2 weeks. Keep your hands & mind occupied, drink some water (2 gals!) and just stay focused. Practice your qtr turns. Work on a convincing smile while you are getting ready to strut on stage. Whatever it takes but stay focused & don't let the food drive you nutty :)

I'm here.....I'm just not sure I want to post the last 2 weeks of food, etc due to how extreme it is....

Plus, I decided to repaint the kitchen, LR & DR - so hubby & I were doing that this weekend.....I have NO clue why I wanted to do this now as I'm stressed out enough. Well, yes I know why - it needs to be done before the new furniture shows up....

I was hoping the Dietex would make me feel "not hungry" so my stomach woudn't perpetually growl.....

Fedexd my suit $$$ to Gail today too....

I'm gonna highly suggest on these days when you are really depleted to lay down & sleep. This is going to be really taxing on your system and you want as much quality sleep / recovery as you can get to support the cardio, etc.

I just took a Melatonin....so I'm hoping to get some sleep tonite!! My sleep was very restless last nite as 2 gallons of water makes me have to pee a lot!! :lmao:

Noticed I was very clumsy today too.....bumped my arm & hurt my thumb.....ouch! :worried:

Damn I don't like melatonin -- doesn't work for me and adds some weird ass dreams to my short night of sleep before I wake up & stare at the ceiling until sun-up.

If that doesn't help you can also try just the regular old Nytol stuff -- diphenhydromine HCl.

It's funny you mention this - I had some strange dreams last nite in between gettin up to pee 100 times.....Melatonin + Ambien so far makes me sleep.....

Severe cramps woke me up around 3am - was up for about an hour. I was hoping this month would be "off." *sigh*

123 this morning..... I haven't been under 125 since high school -- which is 18 years ago!!

Managed to walk around the Riverfront this morning for 50 minutes even tho I feel week & lethargic.....

I'm also feeling very emotional & moody......hubby & I got into an argument last nite -- gotta go to Shop Rite so I'm going to buy him some cards & hide them in diff. places so he'll find them..... dang, I'm ready to cry.... :bawling:

I can barely get onto EF lately -- keeps going down....PITA

Lemme upload them.....BRB....

This is the black suit I got off Diva -- I think it will work. The cup I'm holding with my hand still has the pad in it....the other I cut out before I took the pic. With enough glue I think it'll keep the girls in..... I'll probably use it as my evening show suit in Sept. for the BB part....

hmm

well... I won't say to much because I'm highly against the low cals and have no idea why he's doing what he's doing. I know you want to follow to a tee.. I just don't understand the logic behind his rotation.

If you do however get to a pt where you body just can't function then you need to listen. No comp ever is worth risking your health.
