Doing a funky race next Saturday - 1st you bench press 60% of your weight (if you're a woman - 80% for men) at as many reps as you can, then you run a 5k. For every benchpress rep, 30 seconds comes off your 5k time.
So that means I'll have to press about 65 lbs. I am confident I can do 20 no problem, and I know the rules state you can rest up holding the bar up - the woman that won last year did like 55 reps! and ran a 25 min 5k. I think I can squeak out a 21 min 5k - but not sure about the reps.

Any ideas for this coming week or the morning of the event (27th). Thanks!

carb load the day before and day of. oats, sweet potatos, take a baked potato or 2 with to the event and eat them 30 minutes before your turn. ever take any beta alanine? it along with some Jack3d beforehand will give you some serious muscle energy.

i also need to make sure that whatever preworkout stuff I take is not going to upset my stomach and prevent me from running my ass off. I'm super fast right now. Have been doing HIIT on treadmill at 11mph for up to half mile at at time inbetween sets.

if you decide to use the beta alanine capsule and the jack3d - use no more than 600 - 800 mg of the beta alanine.

also get them a few days before and do both 3 days out to make sure you can handle them ok. based on your bodyweight IMO you should only do 1 scoop of the jack3d so it doesnt make you "crazy"... or "crazier"

nope, no bench shirts. Yeah I ran a 21 min 5k in July, but I'm feeling pretty f'n fast lately. I've been hammering out some 6 minute miles on the treadmill here and there. So shooting for 20 mins - but that being said the chick last year literally did 55 reps, and a 25 min 5k. so - if I beat her by 5 mins, that would buy me ten reps. I don't know what I can do.,....

you know if they dont drug test you could take some type of light oral...but you also run the risk of geting some bad pumps in you legs when you run. I say just go out and do your best and " it is what it is"

hahahaha actually that was not tricky metaphor, WTF why was I so confused when I read that yesterday. Damn and I haven't even had coffee yet. Regarding your metaphor. I neither confirm nor deny.

you've already posted somewhere on the board that your on anavar.

i should have some friends there actually supporting me - so I think I will do some pics.

I need to make sure I weigh in at 112 - they round your weight to the nearest 5lb increment, so 112 puts me at 65lb bar, 113 will be 70lbs :( the last couple weeks I've been bouncing between 1110 and 114.

That's a pretty big weight fluctuation probably not too healthy either.

lol, that's just what I was thinking!

hah sorry I missed that one - didn't do the once over before submitting. And no picture of said enema. No enema at all.

I should be observing proper posting etiquette around here. Any mods willing to move this to the weightlifting forum? (or women's forum if it's a must) thanks!

I want to go into this comp!!!

80% of my weight, I can bench that until the cows come home.

Forget running the 5k, I'll just go for a leisurely stroll.

b0und ( :chomp: )

I always hear about athletes using visualizations and stuff..think like a winner and all that.
good luck :)

Hey you guys are messing up her competition thread, I'm sure she has better things to think about than this stupid stuff

never eat anything on race day that you have not trained with before. Try Gu packs - should be the best quick energy without messing with your tummy.

Oh, this popped into my head while I was lifting this evening ... I'm not a runner, never have been, but I have a friend who ran cross country before he went into the Air Force. He did something similar to what you're going to be doing in basic, but add situps and instead of benchpress they had to crank out as many chinups as they could. They could select the order they did things in, he went with situps, chins then run. I've never forget he said that he was sorry he went in that order, he never realized how much he used his arms in running.

So, that being said, maybe you might want to consider not utterly exhausting yourself doing the benchpress part, because you might end up hindering yourself more than the amount of time you'll gain, sort of a point of diminishing returns, y'know?

Good luck, girl, I totally admit I couldn't do either part.
