hi, if the following helps....
(1) go with a good, well-made shirt: semi-spread collar, french seams, no front pocket, french-cuffed. mine's are custom-tailored - they're not that expensive where I am. blue/grey/white are always safe interview colours. you can go for checks to in the same colour formulas.
(2) get a dark suit that fits you well and drapes easily. this means the super 150s wool or wool/cashmere, or the wool blends with viscose/rayon/poly mix (now quite common and a lot have a very luxurious feel, unlike the cheap "poly-wool" mixes of old). depending on your budget - boss, zegna, armani or other lesser known italian brands (superior cloth and buttons, for some. that's not too say that others are not good) are all good. again - I can score custom tailored (love those working sleeve buttons) at cheap prices so mine's are hand-made. the secret is in the fabric and the cut.
(3) shoes are important. just make sure there're no scuff marks and they nice and polished. oh, don't forget to colour co-ordinate your socks - same colour as pants.
(4) get a conservative tie that knots well. I like my giorgio armanis but honestly, they're not well constructed.
anyways, good luck. I believe dressing up well is very important for interviews - it gives you confidence, your posture is automatically improved and it shows the interviewer that you're serious about the interview/job - all which add towards your scores.
haha, I used to read GQ a lot during- a couple of years post college....but I think the fashion in there is quite the same after awhile.....
