O.k., so I have a bunch of job interviews coming up in the next few months, and I need some nice stuff to wear for them. I need at least one super nice suit, and 1 nice pre/post interview dinner outfit. I haven't worn a suit since I was about 12 years old, and the "nicest" stuff I have is my club gear (i.e. mostly tight black stuff). I need help.

Please advise me of websites, magazines, brand names, department stores, or any other sources that y'all think might help me. Thanks in advice...

try checking out Zara if you have one in your city or Express has a new mens line that is professional yet very trendy. They both look very modern and GQ like but you have to wear them right. You just can't slap on something you find in a mag and think it will look the same way on you.

Thanks bro... I'll try to find this Zara place. I didn't know Express had formal stuff too... I'll check it out. What do you think about Hugo Boss? Armani Exchange?

First, don't over dress. Dress according to the company you are interviewing with. If it is a conservative company, dress conservatively.

Second, find a local mens clothing store in your area that has quality clothes. The service you get from a locally owned store as opposed to a national chain will surprise you.

hi, if the following helps....

(1) go with a good, well-made shirt: semi-spread collar, french seams, no front pocket, french-cuffed. mine's are custom-tailored - they're not that expensive where I am. blue/grey/white are always safe interview colours. you can go for checks to in the same colour formulas.

(2) get a dark suit that fits you well and drapes easily. this means the super 150s wool or wool/cashmere, or the wool blends with viscose/rayon/poly mix (now quite common and a lot have a very luxurious feel, unlike the cheap "poly-wool" mixes of old). depending on your budget - boss, zegna, armani or other lesser known italian brands (superior cloth and buttons, for some. that's not too say that others are not good) are all good. again - I can score custom tailored (love those working sleeve buttons) at cheap prices so mine's are hand-made. the secret is in the fabric and the cut.

(3) shoes are important. just make sure there're no scuff marks and they nice and polished. oh, don't forget to colour co-ordinate your socks - same colour as pants.

(4) get a conservative tie that knots well. I like my giorgio armanis but honestly, they're not well constructed.

anyways, good luck. I believe dressing up well is very important for interviews - it gives you confidence, your posture is automatically improved and it shows the interviewer that you're serious about the interview/job - all which add towards your scores.

haha, I used to read GQ a lot during- a couple of years post college....but I think the fashion in there is quite the same after awhile.....

Good info from the previous poster.

Do not forget the clean cut haircut, the well manicured hands and the immaculate shoes.

Be wise as to your choice of "eau de toilet". Avoid things that are too "loud"

Good luck.

Go to Nordstrom and get a good suit fitted. I work in suits all day long and I have some that are trendy and some that are classic. For a job interview, depending on what field you are working in, one should try to be classic. Get a nice dark navy suit, three buttons. Get a couple of white and light blue Nordstrom shirts. As for the ties go with Emenegendo Zenga. If put together this suit will emphasis both a classic and powerful statement. The reason I recommend Nordstrom brand shirts is because they have a great return policy if the shirt should ever get damaged...
