I am upset my training partner sucks

I have not had a good training partner since I moved to San Diego.

Man you really miss the motivation and the comraderie.

I think I have to fire the guy I am working out with now. I think he holds me back
 
No, its my moms hair stylist. Nice guy and he is a good friend of mine

but he is a 5'6 160 lb tattooed asian kid with a mohawk. He has a decent upper body but always flakes on legs( he has made 1 leg workout in the past 6 months). Trys to rest too long between sets. Doesnt really know how to spot. never talks or says a word during training.

and considering I am 270 right now the changing of the weights on exercises drains me. I feel like it negatively affects my W/O

You could pay me to be your training partner. I guarantee you won't have an easy workout. You'd probably fire me for damn near killing you.
 
call lestat, I think he is 270. How tall are you? I wish I was 270 and could still run but I don't think that is possible.
 
is the difference in strength (having to change the weights) the main problem, or would you be fine with that if his personality were a better fit?
 
do you make him give you a lift off? i used to do this for my ex and he was benching well over 400 lbs and he'd get frustrated when I wasnt able to lift off the way he wanted. fuck its over 400 lbs Im surprised i can make it budge at all fucker
 
i really only use mine to help me change my weights for my drop sets and hold off the vultures from stealing the shit i am working on.

he is no real motivation and hardly ever listens to my advice and then complains about his gains. hey but he is hilarious!

everybodys a f***in flake, never had a reliable partner - the last one was ridiculous, seems like chest and legs were always the days he missed too - the days i could use the help the most.... i just learned to count on myself....ive never let me down :)
 
I haven't had a partner in goodness... over 4 years now, maybe 5 and though there is a tremendous downside to that, I have to say more upside to the point where I don't WANT one.

My last training partner was AWESOME - I learned so much from her (and hope in some way I helped her evolve as an individual, maybe not... :whatever: ) but her lifestyle and mine just no longer aligned and we parted ways.

I like the freedom of coming and going as I please. (Not tied to anyone else's schedule) and choosing to train exactly how I want. Lately I have been focusing on free weights, but will get more and more into aquatics.

I have zero desire to compete so that's fine with me.

Hopefully the Old Grump will be able to make it back to the gym next week (after he broke his leg in late Oct) and we will spend most, if not all of our time in the water. I REALLY enjoy his company and miss him being in the water with me... He has had far too much damage to his shoulder and knee to lift so this will work out fine for us.

If your partner truly IS holding you back, then yea, fire him.

Never really had a true training partner. Occasionally I will hit the gym with a friend, but rarely. I pretty much never do it anymore as I am on a very different training routine than anyone I know. Sometimes it sucks, cuz I'd like to have the convenience of having a spotter for certain things, but I work around it and so far everything's fine. If I need a spot there's usually someone available around the gym anyway.
 
My training buddy is great, one small problem, he is going through a divorce and goes out and canes it everyweekend, so no training on Sunday, and usually Monday.

Other than that, works out perfectly, we have trained together on and off for about three years.

It is hard to find a decent training buddy.

Personality
he just isnt fired up..kind of just wanders away during my sets and stuff

my best training partners over the years have actually all been women suprisingly.

one day you should have been like "yeah here's today's lift off" and pulled your pants down, turned around, and shit right in his face while he's under the bar getting psyched.

this is hilarious cause i thought you were gonna describe somebody who kinda sucked, but instead it's just the absolute worst training partner ever.

Seriously find a chick but don't hit on her :) LOL I promise it will be unlike any training partner you have ever had granted she needs to have a decent amount of strength if you need lift offs etc. I find it hard to train with people since I have been going on my own as I train pretty fast might only wait 30 seconds in between sets it would take Tweakle that long just to get focused and pumped. Oh and did that boy like to chatter I had to tell him more then a few time to STFU and train. He was very intense though and the rubbed off on me and has helped me.

It is all an illusion on stage
Ive seen guys that I outweigh in contest shape by 20 lbs that are my height that look incredible.
I carry a lot of mass in my legs, I think thats why I weigh so damn much

My waist is still only 34 inches...its not like I am a fat blob @ 270

im about to try out that derma therm stuff.......

i have to get to 8% or im offing myself lol

i cant use t3 bc my doc wants to do another blood panel in 6 weeks so that will throw off my free t4 reading

so its basically dermatherm and diet
