how many legit pullups can you do?

binö

Rob of Redford
Platinum
legit meaning no kilping gayeness, although down and chin over the bar.
a pullup is overhand, so no chinups.
i'm curious to see what my fellow athletes can put up

These kind of pull ups?

wide grip ive been at like 20 when i was 10 lbs lighter. like 8-10 right now. ive been slacking on them pretty bad.

hands out wide like they are supposed to be
and captain legit no weight added.
if you claim an outrageous number i might call bullshit
cause i can slap on two 45s and rep it a few times as well.
and my non-weighted numbers aren't that huge, 25-30 with 32 being a PR
(proly cheated the last few but my officer counted them)

Bodyweight I'll say 20

You can plus/minus 5 for EF chat exaggeration to prove that I'm superior than everyone else.

ever do weighted ones?
5*5 weighted pullups/dips is funness

yeah my i am good at weighted ones

i can do 45's for 8 easy, which is weird considering its not far behind my bodyweight.

not sure if i just have 0 slow twitch fibers in my lats or not lol

i work with this asian dude who is 51 or 52.
built like bruce lee...good for 50 legit pullups
then he stops.
he could probably crank out 10-15 more
fuggin impressive man no exaggeration

i believe.
is the 10plus some extra junk in the trunk or added weight?
without the weight how many?

Like 2 more. I have no idea what sort of preponderance of fibers I have in the upper body, but I stall on reps at any poundage at about 12. (legs are a different story) I have to then add weight to continue adding size. Was the same on pullups. Hit a wall at 12 and then had to start adding weight. I loop a heavy gauge bungee cord around my waist and hook either end of it to a 10lb dumbbell.

Best I ever did was 18 dead hang pullups. Now I'm at 8-11 depending on how I feel. I've always sucked at pullups. Rows I can do way more than I think I should be able to, based on my pullup performance.

3 years ago, I think I did 19.
Today, since climbing back after 2 years of off/on training, but major stagnation, maybe 10.

I did 3x8 last week. Wait, correction last set I cranked out 7.
Not in fighting shape right now.

By the end of this year I will be.

How is that suck?

Who is your stick of pull up greatness, Bruce Lee?

people saying like 30 are liars

That's what I'm thinking 2. Some peeps may have the right fast twitch muscle combination in biceps and lats, and low bodyweight though... I guess.

Pullups though, to gym familiar eyes should get mad props, and they should, it's really a symbolic move of strength. You are literally pulling your own weight.

Never plated, but fuck, everytime I see someone do, they get a nod of physical respect from me.

Prolly around 15 or so... it really depends on my current bodyweight... if im an offseason 280 then 10 is a struggle.. if Im 250 and its before a show then i can knock out about 15

Somewhere between 18-22 depending on the day.

Definitely 10+

Possibly 15+ if I am feeling up for it.

But not weighted ones, with one 45lb plate I might do 1 or 2, weighted ones are hard.

Chin-ups I can do all day, I can even do 10 single arm chin-ups, left or right arm.

b0und (really)

Unfortunately I could only do assisted pull ups. My upper body is very weak, but I'm working on it...

25 legit. Should be 30 in a few weeks.

When I could do about 18 legit BW pull ups, I was doing 10-12 reps with 55lbs added. I'm quite lean...abnout 165lbs at 5' 11 and wanted to show someone that I could still do more than they could at their heavier weight.

About 4 or 5, not that impressive considering some of the numbers in this thread but in my defence I've only started weight training again 3 weeks ago after a long lay-off.

Something cool about pull-ups tho imo, they give you a sense of achievement that weight-lifting or push-ups can't replicate.

15ish. Can vary by +/- 3 on any given week. I do them weighted more than not. Guess i could start...

37 is my PR when I used to be seriously into martial arts. I can regularily do 20+ nowadays weighing at over 2 bills. I do them slow and steady though. No jumping up and down and funky body movements.

When i was in the marines 20 was the limit to get a perfect 300 PFT so that's all i did. Have never went to failure, guess i'll try it out on next back day!

37. Damn, can believe itt with a back like that too.

I'll be happy when I can get to 30. Then maybe a one arm pull up??

One arm pullups are impossible unless you've been doing them since you were a kid

I remember seeing a site which explained how to train to do it. Takes ages by the sounds of it. I was gonna try years ago but it was at a time when I didn't want my arms/back to be bulky because of the sport I played.

A few years ago I was in the low 20's til my joints started acting up. Been slooowwwlly rehab'ing it ever since lol.

Maybe 15-16 if fresh. Dead hang.

I've been doing sets of 8-10 no where near failure. I'm working my way up to 100 total reps in a workout. I do them on my second upper body day and I actually do a set between all my exercises. I'm up to 8 sets of 8 as of last week.

I've hit 45 pounds for 5x5 a while ago with straps lol. Tbh, I feel weighted pull ups in my arms more than my lats/back.

Try a wider grip bro

I use the widest grip possible. Less ROM ftw lol

Once I get to 100 reps I'm gonna add some weight. I'd like to be banging out sets of ten with a 45. That would be sick.

transgender crossfit?

J/K.

sets of 10 plated, yeah... that would be nice.

You're a stud with wing-like lats :rainbow:

My back/traps are thick, but not so wide. I have a big blocky waste even with low body fat. That definitely takes away from my taper. My parents blessed me with the worse possible genetics for BBing :(

There are some ripped black dudes at my gym that bang out slow controlled BTN pull ups with 25-45 pounds. It's pretty amazing to watch. They have crazy tapers.

I do have skinny pipes, but that aint changing unless I run mansized amounts of gear. I can barbell curl 55lbs for about 8-9 good ones, but that's my limit.

No offence but if your complaining of small arms and saying it wont change unless you turn to drugs, maybe the reason is that you can only curl 55lbs for 8 or 9. Not trying to be nasty but do you really think getting that up to 95lbs for a set of 10 wont make your arms bigger? The same for your triceps if they are around the same strength level. I bet anyone who could do chinups with a 100lb dumbell and dips with 200lbs around their waist would have pretty massive arms...

I bang out 12 reps with a 60 lb dumbell between my legs...and I'm only 195 lbs now :)

Lol I wish I was awesome at chin/pull ups. A goal of mine is to get 12 wide grip ones. Im hoping dropping some weight will help with that though lol

Honey I'm a woman. Women have far less muscle in their upper bodies than men. That's just how it is. At age 27 and 8 straight years of progressive resistance weight training, my arms have responded in terms of hypertrophy about as much as they are going to w/o resorting to extraordinary measures. And I wasn't complaining, just making a statement of fact.

RW can out-squat you bro...and she's a woman...just sayin lol

I hope EM isn't some 47 year old in his basement. If he is, he's got deception down pat.
I was thinking your avi would've covered gender issue.

Oh and EM, don't lose weight do more pullups, that counter productive, bro.

Ok I was just saying, maybe working on building some strength would help you, but if you feel that your at your peak and/or your happy with how it is then theres no need and Ill just be quiet lol. I read once that often bodybuilders get lost in the mass game and forget that if a muscle has gotten alot stronger, than it has to have gotten bigger and that strength is still part of the equation. It was just a suggestion, I didnt realise you had been lifting so long either.

alcatraz out of interest what is your current squat max? and have you ever tryed 20 rep squats?

my squat = major FAIL bro...it's my worst lift

I squat 365 lbs....but what's funny is that I can bench 415 lbs and deadlift 455 lbs.

are you oggling black dudes at your gym?
fag

I love the black snake.

There's quite a few bros at my gym. They're all jacked, train like idiots, and I'm sure their diets suck.

One dude told me if he eats more than 200g of protein a day he gets too big. Fucker is like 6', 240 lbs, and ripped. Nice genetics.

How the hell is that possible?
weird.

I once outsquatted the Traz...lol

415 bench. However, your bench is right around my PR squat.

Once benched 315. If I got 250 today, it would be a miracle.
Not quite in game shape though. It's a long road, though.

i reckon thats a nice fuckin problem to have rob

^^ i knew a black dude that had the biggest traps and lats i have ever seen with a chest removed from a grizzly bear. but all he would do is bench like 3 times a week. he would always go over 405, sometimes over 500. 3 times in a fucking week. never did back and he couldnt do legs because of an injury. yet he was huge everywhere.

I think I know this black guy that you talk of lol

It's fucking crazy. My gym is in an "urban" area and all the black bros are jacked. Now there are some fucking slobs too, but most of them are big and cut year round. It trips me out really cause most of them do the same workouts over and over and use the same shitty ass form.

I do have a few buddies, one who is a local competitive BBer, who do train hard and smart and know a thing or two about nutrition. I think the rest just have awesome genetics to lean on.

no jerking, no kicking, no swinging, no bullthsit...just straight up, chin over the bar and straight back down?? 20-something...but i use wrist straps and i don't completely unlock at the bottom (if i do, when i wake up in the morning, i can't feel my arms or hands, and over time i get tendonitis in my shoulders...i'm getting teh old).

i do 4 sets of 15, twice a week...once on back day at the beginning of my back workout and once on clean-up day when i do a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
