Which all goes back to a persons income or financial situation, as far as how much the Gov. will pay. Different levels of income qualify for diff benefit amounts.
It's really the #'s game....If you look at the # of the Native American population and that of any other race as seperate groups, then figure how many from each group suffer from alcoholism and live in a specific situation, of course the %'s of each afflicted will be higher in the races with smaller populations as a whole.
Nutshell.....We all have our own problems, and none are really just race specific.

Just like any minority, a small percentage of them will be "activists". Since Native Americans were a small segment to begin with, I think we simply bought-off the activist core using tax incentives and casino rights.Ludendorf said:

My husband is an honest to god, card carrying member of one of the tribes of the Mohawk nation, and this is actually a discussion he and I have had before. We both believe part of it seems to be general personality type. It's just not generally in their nature to raise a ruckus.
The rest of it ... frankly you gotta remember, we succeeded in absolute and total destruction of the American Indians, as a people. We destroyed their culture, their religion, their history, their land. We took their children away from them, sent them to boarding schools, taught them that being indian was bad and being white was good. Those children got beaten for speaking their own tongue and remembering their history. This is a people that were beaten down to the brink of extermination, oppressed, suppressed and repressed. We managed to do to american indians what Hitler couldn't do to the Jewish people. What we did to the blacks was a travesty, but at least we left the ones who remained IN Africa to their culture. We slaughtered, enslaved, and constantly moved the Indians. We moved east coast indians to the mid west, we moved western indians to the deep south, we moved mid atlantic indians to the far north east. A lot of indians hit the reservations and died within a few years, the climatic change, the change of life ... then the ones who remained were systematically brainwashed.
[here's a nice aside, I just learned this weekend, seems American Indian women used to get beaten on the steps of the churches for miscarrying because it was suspected they took abortificants instead of giving birth to children who would be raised in a judeo-christian world without the support of the tribe, their own culture or traditions ... and don't forget the Jesuits snipping off the tip of a finger when an Indian wouldn't learn the biblical texts ... ]
Why don't the indians bitch as much ... the real answer is why bother? It's all gone. They can bitch and scream and rant until the end of time, their history, their culture, their land is gone forever. Say what you will, blacks in America can still go visit their ancestoral home, read about the preserved pieces of their culture that have survived the onslaught of Europeans, see the holy places. Most american indian holy places have become north american tourists traps, at best (strip malls and suburban housing at worst).
You just get tired of fighting, eventually, you know?

Oh, and BTW, he don't get SHIT for being an Indian! No medical, no dental, no stipends, no money, no benefits -- nothing. He COULD have an acre of land, if he chose to live ON the reservation, but that's it. But who the fuck wants to live up there in Canada? Ain't shit to do for a living to start with.

After watching Aboriginal television for 5 minutes I'm left scratching my head about what is so special about native culture that it needs a huge infusion of my tax dollars.
I'm sure that sniffing petrol, begging for cigarettes outside the Beer Store and shooting endangered species all have an intrinsic cultural value but I'm not seeing it. But I'm sure something special in the fabric of Canadian Society would be lost if they had to leave the squallor of the reservations & get a job like any other person in this country

BWHAHAHAHAH.. you're fucking joking right??? How many thousands of TV shows.. movies and such do you see the holocaust and Nazis brought up to villify the "evil racist badguy" in the show.. for example.. probably 1 out of every episodes of "Law n Order" somehow mantions Jews, Nazis, the holocaust or makes references to such because of the white racist guy who is the bad guy in 99% of the episodes.
Do you even watch American media ? If you do you either dont pay much attention or are stoned out of your mind through most of it.
Jews have and will continue to milk the holocaust and every other time they have been oppressed though the century at every opportunity.
Im not saying they arent justified in feeling the way we do.. but the rest of us dont need to be constantly reminded of it in every form of media.
Hell how many times do you hear the word Nazi used by minority rights groups every time some politician does something they dont like. Where do you think they get it?

Most of them can't look back on their geneology and follow their family name because they were given white names. They can't go and mourn their grandparents and greatgrandparents, because those cemetary sites are sitting under subdivisions. For every story or piece of tradition that's rediscovered there are 1000s of things that are gone, forever. It's not put down on paper, it's not remembered in holy days, nobody writes any popular songs about it.
