Do you know what kind of legal precedent this sets? Let's start with habitual wife-beaters.
"Your Honor, my client was simply beating his wife. He was unaware that her body was incapable of surviving the blasts from the baseball bat. They have had similar disputes before, and she survived just fine. If anything, he should only be charged with domestic abuse."
Hey, how about rapists.
"Yes officer... I was raping her at gunpoint. I didn't mean to kill her! The gun went off by accident! If I really wanted to kill her, you think I would have bothered with the rape?"
Shit, how about vehicular manslaughter.
"I'm sorry Your Honor. I did see him in the road and I didn't slow down... but I thought he could get out of the way in time. When I realized he couldn't, it was too late! Wahhhh I'm sorry!"
Give me a fucking break.
murder - the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought
Did he kill a man? Yes.
Did he do so unlawfully? Yes.
Hence, he murdered a man. Hell, all lexicography aside so that Puc won't be on my back, forget the definition of the word. He killed a man in cold blood and he deserves to either die for it, or spend the rest of his life in prison.
This sentence is only giving the American People the message that murder is excusable - much like I'm sure the Yates Butcher case will also show.
You believe murder is excusable, and I'm the one with problems?

Bro, You crack me up!!! LOL You cannot compare rapists and habitual wife beaters to the incident which happened at the hockey rink. That's like comparing apples and oranges.
Rapists and HWB'S are knowingly commiting a crime.
The hockey incident was plain and simple. One guys is attacked by another, they both go at it and fight. The bigger guy goes a little over board and kills the guy, ACCIDENTELY. It was not premediated murder!!!
Now tell me is that really COLD BLOODED MURDER?
Do you really think he was really wanted to kill the guy on purpose?
I'm not saying he should get off on killing the man. What he got was enough of a punishment.
