Well, years ago football teams used to tie a large truck tyre around their waist and pull it. Is went out of fashion for a while due to the myth it would hurt your back. But it has been studied and proven to give you great strength gains and simply keeping your back straight the same as you do when squatting or deadlifting will keep the injuries away. It is extremely safe.
Sleigh pulling is a simple variation on that. Its a flat piece of metal with a pole in the middle of it to put your 20kg (44 pound) gym plates on. You put on enough to allow you to pull, but enough to make life hard. Life is supposed to be hard! Then, a rope and belt goes from your waist to the sleigh and away you go!
I went to a truck garage and got a truck tyre for free as it was old, rolled it to the field in our estate and tied a rope to it and used an old belt around my waste to pull it. Everyone was looking like I had 2 heads, but I didn't give a fuck. I have no shame when it comes to putting my strength through the roof!
You can see one at www.elitefts.com by going into the "shop", but I used a tyre as mentioned above and the results were magnificent
