Random, but I was just talking to a friend of mine (she's black) about the Dave Chappelle block party concert and how it would be my ideal concert to see, but it's filled with reverse racism and anti-white sentiments. She was laughing at all the white kids that leave messages for Dead Prez on their myspace page, calling them dumb, wondering if they even listen to the lyrics. (and PLEASE, do not come in here and say it is not reverse racism. their lyrics are blatant.) Sucks, cause I love the beats and skills from most of those guys (Talib, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Roots).
i dont give a shit about reverse racism in lyrics, but it fucking pisses me off when blacks think they can get away with whatever the fuck crazy shit they want against white people, and it somehow be justified, and whites somehow be racist if they stand up.

or at least im afraid theyll think im racist if i stand up for myself,

i al ways hated wrestling black people

THIS is what's wrong with rap. THIS is why rap sucks now. Because you need STREET CRED to rap. So that translates into, the more you've fucked around with the law, the more you've fucked around being a dumb shit, the better rapper you are. 50 cent solidifyied this system like a motherfucker when he came professing his getting shot 9 times ordeal. Sent ja rule right out the window and now rap is following him. The cycle needs to be broken if true artists are to emerge.

As for Kanye, I like him and have much respect for him. He's better than so many other producers out there in that he's trying to ADVANCE rap music. He's trying to make it better and add element to it. You can see what I mean from his first album to his second. the difference is clear. His raps are improving with every track. Infact, he's becoming better than many other top mc's simply because of his work ethic. He wants the world for fucking real.

As for what he says or how he acts -- I'm fine and dandy with it all. I respect the fact that he stands behind his principles and beliefs through and through. Whether what he says is right or wrong is for you to judge.

Seizmaing, that was a great post. I completely respect your opinion about Kanye. However, you have to understand we all relate to rap/hip-hop/r&b in different ways. I'm not saying an artist has to be an ex con to be "legit" in my eyes...as long as I can related to an artist when their words flow over the beat...it's all good. There are specific things that happened in my life...when they're spoken about in a song I get the chills. I shouldn't really say more about Kanye simply because I haven't listened to his tracks intentely enough to form an educated opinion. Either way I think your post convinced me to do so.

His skits from his debut cd were his only good stuff imo.
