Today is the first day of school here. Boy, am I happy to have my privacy back during the day time.

The youngest step daughter is going to a new school today. She is now in middle school. I know she is going to get picked on all day at school because she is chubby. I got up and did her hair and put a little makeup on her to make her feel more confident. I am biting my nails hoping they don't completely destroy her today. Kids are so MEAN!

6th grader. I just put it very lightly. You can hardly tell she has any on and some mascara and pink lipgloss. It was pretty and not in a Jon Benet Ramsey/creepy sort of way...lol.

I know what u mean. I don't have kids but a good friend of mine has a 13y/o. Yesterday, I went with her to help pick out some new clothes for school since her mom(my friend) had to work. Poor kid. She's going through that ugly faze..... but I hope they don't tell her about it at school.

My step daughter has really gorgeous long blond hair with natural light highlighted streaks through it and big blue eyes. She definitely would be pretty if she were not in a chubby phase. Poor thing.

My friend's daughter kinda wrecks herself. Pretty girl going through the goth faze. She cut her hair short.... colored it black..... wears black makeup with sparkles.....

Needto will be relentless on you for pics, you know that right? lol

No, pinto bean. Sheesh, don't turn it into a bash session. I did their nails and toe nails too. Girls just like to look pretty. Yeah, I guess it gives us a little confidence to put the stuff on. Shit, quit giving me a hard time...lol.

LOL...yeah, the goth look is pretty harsh. I bet those kids will look back at pictures and wonder why in the hell they dressed like that. It's like Haloween every day.

I have short black hair as well, it's the gothxican look

I can't wear it at work. I could, but I don't have time for touch ups and I spend 2much time outside. It would all get smudged all over my face. I see it all the time. Female medics show up with makeup on at work... lookin' good. 4 hours later... BIG mess. Even that long wear stuff.

Damn, starting school already? It's the begining of august!
yes, i thought it was rather early too, but that is when it is starting down here. The kids were all excited and nervous. I had forgotten that part about being that age. They tried on all their new outfits, called all their friends to discuss class schedules, etc. etc.

it takes me a whole of 5 mins to apply my makeup. I actually hate makeup, but I'm gosh awful ugly without it :worried:

I seriously doubt that, Frisy.

I can go out without any, take five minutes or up to an hour to apply makeup, depending on what I am doing.

Sometimes, I do people's makeup for weddings and special occassions, etc. I have several train cases full of makeup. I love it.

I have twin 6 year old girls and my wife and I are very diligent about them eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise. . .they also seem to have been blessed with my wifes genes (she's 5'6" and even after three kids she still only weighs about 110lbs). . .but, we're very concerned with helping them develop healthy attitudes about food and their bodies. We received their BMI's at the end of this past school year and they were both below the 10th percentile. . .low body fat. We lead by example. . .during the week we eat meat and green vegetables for lunch and dinner (they eat cereal for breakfast most days and I drink a protien shake and eat a couple of pieces of fruit). We loosen up a little bit on the weekends but we still keep the junk (chips, ice cream, donuts, french fries, etc.) to a minimum. . .they are treats. . .not food. It's not easy but it seems to be working so far.

My heart goes out to overweight kids. . .especially girls.

I actually have a ton of makeup, mostly MAC. But still I don't take the time to apply it, i go nice and simple. A tad of foundation, a little on the lids, some liner, mascara and lip gloss and I'm good to go. If Im just headed out to go shopping or something I only apply mascara.

Now My hair on the other hand takes for freaking ever... not to style, I don't do a damn thing with it but to dry it takes ages. I'm seriously thinking of doing the short sheek look so that its less maintence.

1-2 minutes to apply makeup. some powder, curl lashes, apply mascara. if Im feelings extra indulgent, add a tad of liner to the top lids and possible some eye shadow but that's like once in a great while.

I feel lazy now. thanks

My daughter was pretty nervous last night, with today being her first day of High School.. Holy crap with her needing to get up at 0600 am and School starting at 7:15 am..

Plus she has to deal with the new diabetes testing and insulin shots and stuff on top of all else normal stresses. Good news is most of her classes are in one bldg.

That is cool. Hope her diabetes stays well under control for her. Juvenile diabetes?

Acquired last May, due to sudden acute Pancreatitis, causing the loss of 80% of her pancreas organ and the cells that create insulin. Also causing some digestive issues with limited food digestive enzymes creation

Funny how things change. When I was in middle school I was picked on for being one of the smallest kids in class. After lifting and wrestling for 4 years in high school some of the middle school bullies got some pay back.

That chubby little 6th grader may turn out to be a super model. :)

Me too. yeah, the infection of the pancreas is what usually is the onset of juvenile diabetes. I have a very good friend who is a doctor who is general practice but has lots of diabetic patients because he had late onset juvenile diabetes that came on the same way as your daughter's did, but it didn't hit him until he was a freshman in college. He swears by the insulin pumps and they do seem to make things much better. I know several diabetics who have them.

Done and Done. her biggest hurtle is breads.

OMG if you love york peppermint patties and hershey chocolate bars, you must try the sugar free versions of both. Hardly tell the difference.

Lots of high energy swimming in our pool almost every single night.
Girl wears me out when we race.

Juvenile diabetes is not the sort of diabetes caused by being overweight and developing insulin resistance. It is caused by a pancreas that doesn't function properly. Being overweight was not the cause. You cannot regain function of a damaged pancreas.

Her pancreatitis was not caused by an infection, but by a tumor of one of her 4 Parathyroid glands in her neck causing sky high blood calcium levels. Also causing multiple kidney stones she is still passing. They removed the one tumorus gland and that is stable for now, but it was a found too late to stop the pancreatitis. She has mentioned the pump and we will look into it once she is on a stable program..

Great job.
Kids learn all their habits from watching their parents.

Fruits WERE the treats when I was growing up - I remember plums and bananas being the cat's meow to me.

I was still el chubbo in the third grade even with healthy foods - LOL - the school pics are a riot my face was round/pudgy, I was real thick through the middle and I was tomboy so when I played outside I was a mess with my hair all over and dirt on my uniform.

Only one person teased me - a boy on my school bus - so finally one day I bit him, I suspect he hasn't forgotten either.

Needless to say that year I grew several inches and by the time spring and summer past I was taller than everyone else and lanky in the 4th grade.

Eh, kids are kids - they're honest unlike us adults that kiss people's asses - we just have to give them the tools to understand why people behave as they do and how to react to it. My parents missed that part but I turned out ok anyway.

I was allowed to eat anything that I wanted and polished off quite a few Little Debbies when I was a kid...lol. Still, I was skinny as a stick. I do think lots of it is genetic. Her older brother was very chubby at her age too. Now he is very thin and eats normally. I really think she will outgrow it if she quits binge eating at night.

Same here - just different makeup.

I go through phases where I buy all this stuff thinking I will use it and the only three items that get a lot of use is my lash curler, undereye concealer and lip gloss.

Oh well.

You are correct. But diet and exercise are still key to both using properly the insulin she injects and also lowering/burning her blood glucose levels naturally vs needing more insulin.

they had they attitude, "when hes ready to change, he will" but its not that easy when you have no idea what the fuck it is that leads to the change.

i just hope it doesnt backfire and lead your kids to being like "fuck looking good, been there done that, give me the food" attitudeand give up

You've sunk to a new low calling my 12 year old step daughter a fatty and fatass. Could you be any lower? Oh yeah, I forgot about how you made fun of a person who had no arms that time. You must feel pretty badly about yourself to have to make fun of little girls and the handicapped to feel better about yourself. She can lose weight, but you will always be a dick.

and you would know, why?

i sent him a nice K msg (green, unlike your red, bitch) about how i know plenty freshmens who have gotten with many college guys by the end of their first year. and to make sure hes discussed all the safesex shit with her.

im not exagerating, im trying to be helpful. im sorry your too consumed with hatred to appreciate my posts.

btw, have you seen spanglish, where the mom gives her fat daughter the clothes that are too small so shell want to lose weight? you remind me of her. you have zero faith in your stepdaughter, if your going to come here making "im the hero" posts about how you slapped some makeup on her because shes fat and will get made fun of. (thats basicallywhat you wrote, dont try and slither your way out of it)

you fucking piece of dog shit. You are no better than those mean 12 year olds at her middle school. Sorry you never grew the fuck up. I would never give her clothes that didn't fit her and tried to talk to her about why mean people tease other people this morning so she could go to school and face stupid, ignorant bullies like you. You fucking loser. Grow up!

your name calling does nothing but show just how h orrible you feel.

you told her why mean people tease others, preparing her to get made fun of at school before she even went and got made fun of. what you basically did was convince her that she has a flaw that others will see and make fun of. you defeated her ego before she even had a chance.

I think it's a very delicate balancing act between trying to give your kids a healthy start and giving them weird, fucked-up attitudes and ideas about food, health and their bodies. Push too hard and the kid will rebel or become anorexic. . .don't be firm enough and they'll be living on Cheetos and Pepsi Cola. As I said, we lead by example. . .my wife is 39 and has maintained the 110lb body that she had when I met her and I'm 41 and I WHOOPED my 24 year old training partner's ass in a best abs by 4th of July contest. It ain't easy. . .if it was, eveyone would do it.

Also, lighten-up on heatherrae. . .she's a cool chick and always available with helpful advice, support, etc.

yeah, I feel horrible about your making fun of my daughter. Hell yeah, I do. If I were a guy and were in front of you, I bet you wouldn't make fun of someone's daughter.

I talked to her about it this morning because she has been teased for the last few years. She asked me to write an excuse for her to stay longer in the bathroom in case people teased her. I didn't come up with this shit to defeat her ego. You should know what the hell you are talking about when you post up your venemous, immature manure. I asked her if she was anxious about starting and new school and she volunteered to me that she was worried that kids would tease her.

She likes when I do her hair and put a little mascara and lip gloss on her. It makes her feel more put together when she has new clothes and her hair looking pretty, etc.

I worry about kids teasing her because they have in the past.

So, if you feel whole lots better for teasing a little girl or a step-mommy who is nervous for her little girl, go ahead. You are only showing what a mean pathetic waste of DNA you are.

i wouldnt make fun of any young kid who is upset about or worried about something serious..i would try and make them feel better and increase their self esteem. but shes not reading this thread is she? if she does, ill make an apology thread.

but as for you, this post sounds nice. alot nicer than the original one that was designed to shed light on how awsome you are, how chubby your stepdaughter is and how you pityher, and how glad you are that you have the house to yourself--as opposed to serious concerns about your stepdaughter.

Sublime just like to get a rise out of people. Like lots of people around here do. And they will continue in their attempts to do that as long as you fuel the fire i.e. get riled up by them.

And lol @ the bandwagon jumpers around this place. Hey look! That guy over there is dissing HeatherRae! And he's pretty popular! So, why dont I jump on the bandwagon and diss her too because A)I want to be like the cool guys and B) I know I have backing to do so. How pathetic.

i don't and won't EVER condone the teasing, but unless SHE stands up for herself it won't stop. I went thru this and also went thru this with my son because he was so gosh damn easygoing. NOW, fuck with him or his sister and he's on you like a damn magnet. She has to learn to take care of herself... you nor her dad will be there 24/7 to do it for her.

We all, at one pt in our lives gone thru shit like this and ya know what... we survived. And it made us better people.

Now I battle my son defending others and getting into turmoil because he refuses to take shit from anyone. He defends his friends and his sister and her friends and you know, I can't blame him... why? because its what I would do also... Hes a very good boy with good intentions.

Lots of parents are happy to have a little free time when their kids go off to school. I bet your mommy sure is. You wouldn't know that, though, because you don't have kids. You are a kid. My first post was not saying that I am great because my daughter is chubby. It said I'm nervous for her. You are a waste of time. Don't you have some one on life support, a cancer patient, or a quadraplegic to go make fun of somewhere?

Yes. You do have to learn how to take care of yourself. But, that doesn't mean your daddy won't on occassion meet up with the offending little piece of shit's father in a grocery store parking lot and choke his stupid ass out because he ignored your repeated requests to control his piece-of-shit demon spawn. I could tell you how I know this but then I'd have to kill you. . .and I've grown so fond of you. . .I'd certainly feel bad.

Oh, he sounds like a sweety! I love kids who are like that. She is so easy going and meek that I can't imagine her to ever stick up for herself the way that she should. When I was growing up, I had a brother who was three years older and we fought like cats and dogs. However, if someone picked on either of us at school, the other would go ape shit and beat the hell out of the bully. Needless to say, we didn't get picked on much. I never really got picked on, but my brother beat up any would-be suitors as well as bullies...lol. My brother had a stuttering problem, and I had to beat a few peoples' asses before word got out not to mess around with either of us...lol.

I wish she were a little more scrappy like that sometimes, but it is also endearing how sweet and fragile she can be.

In all fairness to Heather, it is her stepdaughter, so its not like she raised the kid.
I think its cool that you care that much about her. Some people are pretty harsh to the stepkids.

Yes. You do have to learn how to take care of yourself. But, that doesn't mean your daddy won't on occassion meet up with the offending little piece of shit's father in a grocery store parking lot and choke his stupid ass out because he ignored your repeated requests to control his piece-of-shit demon spawn. I could tell you how I know this but then I'd have to kill you. . .and I've grown so fond of you. . .I'd certainly feel bad.

lol

I transformed into a different kid from the 5rd grade on... I was shy and timid.. and then turned into the gal next door that would fucking walk straight into your house chase you into your room and beat the shit out of you if you even dared mess with her or her family.

I NEVER started shit but I'll be damned if I ever backed down. I wasn't a spoiled child at all, and i was told often times that if I ever started trouble that was my ass...... But just as I tell my children, and my mom told me... don't cause trouble but don't take shit from anyone. If you take it once be prepared to take it time and time again.

and you would know, why?

i sent him a nice K msg (green, unlike your red, bitch) about how i know plenty freshmens who have gotten with many college guys by the end of their first year. and to make sure hes discussed all the safesex shit with her.t)

Thanks for you concern, really

Yea, she got the full 411 at 13 on everything about the period, sex, babies, diseases, love vs lust, Homosexuals, anal /Oral sex, condoms and the pill and mostly from me about dudes and how they will tell her anything to get what they want.

Not ALL of them, but enough for her to be aware and leary of ALL of them at first.

And guess what ?
She had the chance to use that skill with some douche popular kid wanting to kiss her at a party when she didn't, and she passed with flying colors. Even the next day when he tried to bash her in public about it she slammed right back at him with a comment that his breath was nasty.

LOL My kid rocks.

That's cool. I get afraid that when I have kids they won't learn from my hindsight.

Good news Subslime,
She actually made it through the first day without getting knocked up or infected..

I'm off to purchase some required fiction books for the kid for school..

What the hell happened to the damn school buying this crap ?
Damn Fla and its cheap ass school board bitches.

This is what you get with 0 state income tax.

Fuck school. I always hated it. Too many people there and the hierarchy system is bullshit. I love going it alone.

The trick I have found is to not lecture, but just talk like its this
great story from your life that ended up bad.

"I was always telling girls lies when I was younger just to get a kiss or other stuff. Usually I was caught and she dumped my ass or worse"

They will listen and see you for a screw up themselves.

I just want my daughter to be a lesbian. I can deal with a chick with a mullet and flannel, but not seeing her in a hip hop video.

Well, I went to go pick up the girls from school and had them tell me all about their day. They both had a good day. A few people came up to the youngest and told her how pretty she looked. =-)

I looked around and all the little girls wear a bit of makeup now. Summer probably had less on than the others.

Anyway, both are happy and in the kitchen making tacos for us. They are not known for their cooking skills. We will see how this turns out.

Anyway, I was happy that she didnt have troubles yet going to middle school as she did in the first couple of years of elementary school.

hey chcika...hope all is well. School starts in Aug? How depressing! Are the schools there air conditioned?

yes, they are air conditioned, thank goodness! They would DIE in there otherwise.

You helped your daughter get ready for school, and then did something to make her feel special?

My God woman, how evil are you??

I'm an evil stepmommy who is destroying my girl's self esteem to my own aggrandizement. Didn't you read the thread? ROFL.

it's been very hot across the country. I love the hot weather, so it's all good if it stayed that way all year, for my taste.

i could go on a rant about how us parents do things to ourselves to make us feel better about ourselves that our children pick up on although most if us dont realize it. like breast implants....... what do you think your children think when you get huge boobies to feel "better" about yourselves? doesnt matter if you give them the implants or apply makeup on them or yourself. we tell our children so much without saying a word. why do people take steroids???? too look better quicker and feel "better" about ourselves.

listen, my son notices everything and hes only 8. he always asks me why i go to the gym. i tell him i go so i can feel better about myself, get in better shape, and look good for all the ladies.... sad but oh so true. yes my son is getting chunny also. he asks me if i think hes getting fat. of course i tell him no. but at the same time i changed what he has lying around the house to snack on. and i kick him outside all the time. except thses days where its 102 outside. thats just mean.

i see nothing wrong with helping someone feel better about themselves. but just dont be so quick to jump someone on here when all of you do the same things in different ways.

i guess putting on makeup on a 6th grader is like giving your son a cell phone at the age of 10 so he can talk to the ladies. i believe i heard that somewhere on here also.... lol

All the little girls had some makeup on. I don't see that a little mascara and lip gloss gave her some strong message.

You sound like a cool dad.

Everyone should lighten up on the makeup thing though. I would post a pic of what she looked like, but I don't trust half the peeps on here to be decent people.

You wouldn't even know that she had any on, and it made her happy. So sue me, everyone.

REALLY!

I'm the opposite - I love the cold.
I mean I enjoy the warmer weather because I like to play outside during that time but I love the cold crisp winter air and I love the snow.

I like the cold only for vacations in a cabin in the woods with hot chocolate, a fire and warm, fuzzy sweaters. That last about 3 days and then I want it HOT again...lol.
