Exactly how strong are you?

my bench is at 325 i think...curls...hmmmmmmmm... i do sets at like 120...it also depends...eing that i mix it up between freeweights, cables and machines. with machines and cables...i can always push more weight and an extra rep or 2.

Best bench, 435 @ 195 BW. Don't bench heavy too much any more. I'll just go to 315 for reps of 8-10. I don't max out on curls.
Squat around 500
Dead around 500

i dont do flat bench. but i do 120db press and 50 db for curls. my biggest lift is my squatpress, thats 1080lbs.

only 280 max bench, cuz i just started benching 7 weeks ago. do 70 lb seated concentration curls after going 135 on barbell curls.

i'm 185... bench around 370... goes up everyday but i'm currently on cycle.... dumbell curls I use 45's to 50's depending on the day

How much is your bench press & arm curls? I'm 275 in the bench press department and can curl 60 pounds.

Who cares? We are not powerlifters right? I dont do bench press.
I`m sure my triceps is strong as hell though :) Even Mr.Universe2005 who workout with me never trying to beat me.

I like this thread. It sounds like people are being honest. You don't hear much about what people curl. I've curled 135 (not perfect form, but not ridiculous either) I honestly use only 95 lbs. strictly on a straight bar, but that's after chins with a 35 or 45 lb. plate on my waist. The most I've tried to bench was 260, but I can do sets of 5-6 with 235 on a good day. So, I'm not sure where that would put my real max. I don't consider myself strong, but it's good to know that other guys have "down-to-earth" maxes.

Personally i agree with ret. i dont really care what i lift as long as my body looks like i want it to. with that being said though, there are some lifts that, personally, i keep high since thats what that certain muscle group responds best to. like i do 3 heavy exercises for legs then do like 3 other ones that are pretty light or breakdowns. for something like shoulders on the other hand, i prefer one heavy lift and the rest, breakdowns, supersets.

Its all relative: my best set on bench in an optimal day is 405x5. However that is for 1 set only, If I am actually doing a bench workout I rarely go over 355x5 because I like working with greater intensity. Also, i got into powerlifting for a while so I was doing board presses etc... But i've backed away from all that and am training for a strongman competition which is only a stepping stone on my way to competing in BB. Just using it as my reward for my current lean bulk/strength cycle.

people have different goals and agendas. Somelift to be massive and powerful and others to be lean and ripped. its all good, much respect for both .

Thats what I`m talking about, I used to bench around 400lbs in the past but my chest was lacking hella! It was damn small compared to my guns. Now I dont do bench press and I have a nice chest! Dont squat alot either, i can hardly find pants that fits me so fuck it... I`m not a lifter so I dont give a fuck about wheights I lift, sure it gives you great feeling when you`re strong and getting stronger day by day but it isnt my goal to get stronger!

Strength isn't my main goal it just comes along with the terretory

LOL. ye i gave up on stuff like jeans. track pants are my wardrobe now. lol. i too though dont do a lot of squats. they dont do a lot for leg mass for me. some people swear by them. but my experience hasnt been great with them. i much prefer squatpress, backward hacksquats and legpress.

I can't bench anymore, it kills my shoulders. I don't really have anything that use to as a measure of strength really. My curl bar is 210 and I do 3 x 10 with that on tren and 3 x 8 without it. If that helps.
No it doesnt help... you`re still a pussy! :) LOL
Now I want some pics of those crazy guns! :) Must be impressive! Two years ago I switched to preacher curls and dont do more than 110lbs for 15reps. Still able to do 190lbs curls for 6-8reps standing but normally dont do it anymore, not seeking for extra size in biceps area.

Bench is 441lb for a strict single.

Deadlift is 661lb for a single.

Curls, I use 65lb Db's for strict curls 8-10 reps, preacher 65lb for 5-8 reps. Dont do bar.

Bodyweight is 230lbs

Thats some impressive results!
I have a little bit more than 661lbs on the bar in that picture :) 300kilos dead lift to be exactly which according to my calculations is around 662lbs :p

Last time I competed I was probably the only BB on stage that couldn't bench
press 300lbs. I finished first out of greater than 70 contestants.

Fuckin Strong

bench is 295 or whatever 2 45s and a 35 is on each side and i dont know one arm curls i just use 40s max with those for sets of 8-10 and preachers with curl bar with a 45 on each side for like 10.

Yes it was 300kg, I am in the UK, I converted for our American friends, :) .

I plan on getting some equipment and trying competition powerlifting, the last show I went to watch, I could have won the bench by 30kg without a shirt, so I think I could do well (the deadlift too I think).

I do not have the genetics to be a bodybuilder, my frame is too light, but I have just over 100kg of decent muscle on it, so I am now interested in going after some records in a year or so ;) .

one rep max on flat bench-475lbs.
go up to 100lbs. db hammer curls 6 reps

thebigbabboon was my spot for the 475lbs. lift

The bench should not be considered for strength. Some of my lifts Upright row=315 Shrug=700, Squat=600;3 diff. occasions, Cheat Curl= 250 4reps, Clean and Jerk=275, Flys=120. These are the ones I can rem.,all at 195lbs and NATURAL while getting ready for a BBing show.

Cant bench heavy anymore but probably somewhere in low to mid 400's. Military press 255 for 6. Knee all sorts of fucked up so no legs, but did do sets of 405 2 years ago. Curls 75lb @ 8 good form both sides and 2 cheaters each side. Incline dumbells 140 for 6-8 depends on the day. Off cycle drop those #'s a bit, lol! currently 216 probably 13% bf.

BOOGS

thanx bro. they call it a squatpress so thats one reason i refer to it that way. and another reason why its diff. from the leg press is that its more of a compound movement. leg press is back and forth. this machiene imitates the same movement you do on squats. i really like it though. it adds lots of mass to my legs.

He was my training partner for several years. He weighed around 240 when he got 475.

And he doesnt want a lift when breaking...he friggin wants it handed to him...

I think I have one arm pit longer then the other cause of that sh@#!!!

Thanks.

Hoping to get a nice carry over when I try a bench shirt, UK record for 100kg class is about 260kg (573lbs), so I have a long way to go, but I do not feel it is beyond me (never used a shirt before).

I think the deadlift is somewhere around 350kg (771), not sure about that, but I shall keep striving towards it :) .

I press out 285 for 10 reps or so. I haven't maxed out in over a year. Preacher curls have me about 120 for reps. I rep out DB curls at 65.

this has been my experience...before i started with any gear, i used to train like a maniac. i was weighing about 200lbs at 5'11''. one day i was frustrated with the weight i was doing so i decided to start to really hit the heavyweights. it was a "mind over matter" kind of moment. i soon began benching close to 400lbs, curling 170lbs, incline flies of 120 lbs (with good form belive it or not). but i wasn't looking like a guy who could do those weights or more importantly, like a guy that spent that much time in the gym. that's when i started with the aas. now, i get such crazy pumps that i don't need to do anywhere near that weight, but i look a million times better. i decided that i couldn't keep up doing that crazy training anyways. i didn't start gear until mid 30's. i felt my body was ready for the next level. the ego takes a hit cause i don't lift as much but i look fantastic. guess that's the tradeoff.

Good for you bro but I gotta see a video of 120lb fly's with good form.

My partner Jan got me few days ago, he did 300kilos(662lbs) for 6reps! fucking amazing... You probably know him, he is a guy who won class2 mr.Universe in UK last year.

I use 50kg (110lbs) DB's for flyes on a high incline with perfect form, only thing that really hits my upper chest well, I treat them the same as everything else, try and add a rep, or a little bit of weight every week or two, it all soon adds up.

Making big jumps is the biggest mistake I see most people make, they go from 2 plates to 3 plates, and never use the smal 2lb disks, that is where the secret lies, small amounts of progress on a regular basis.

300kg for 6!!! That is amazing, what weight was he when he did this?

If your talking about machine squats, leg press, etc. those things are really inconsistent. I've worked out with as high as 1600lbs on some and as low as 700lbs on some and my actual strength levels weren't much different.

Bench - 385 x 4 (last set)
Squat - 475 x 4 (last set)
DB Curl - 80 x 4 (last set)

Last week I did:

Flat Press 5x5 365
Deads 5x5 430
Squats 5x5 410
Standing BB Press 5x5 190
Dips 5x5 140
DB Curls 5x5 60(by far my weakest and smallest muscle....don't even get me started)

I posted a pic of me doing them on page 3. any ways, my point is, who cares if they are inconsistant? i dont care if i get weaker or stronger as long as i keep growing.

Me to!!! who would have ever thought Silva would beat Arlovski? Not to mention 6' 1" Diaz getting beat by someone only 5'6".

I cheat to much on most of my exercises to get an accurate weight. Its all about cheating if you wanna grow. Ill regularly curl the 70's for sets of 10 per arm but i deifnately wouldnt call my form "strict"...i work out to isolate the muscle...not be limited by leverage points

excercises there is no cheating on?
bench 315-405 10-15 reps
Deadlifts 585x2
Squats(assto grass of course) 585x2

offseason weights...i dont let my reps go below 8-10 precontest....too much risk of injury without the added bulk to stabilize my joints.

I'm strong enough to pick up my dick, and I powerclean 350 (in separate lifts). Everything else besides squats, I don't care how much I lift.

Recruit said:

Not me! I'd have bet the fucking house on Andre if I were a gambling man.

I think Tim was lucky, if they have a 3rd, Andre will not get so sloppy.

I dont straight bar curl anymore it kills my shoulders and elbows.
I do 75lb dumbells for sets of 6-8.

I bench 405x8 at the end of my workout. Very strict reps on all my lifts. No slop. I have never went over 405 even though I can do it for 8 reps. I never really felt the need to.

Squat 495 for 8.
I never go over that either. That is enough weight to tear my muscles down to where they need to be to grow.

I am 6'1 265 now.

@175 bench 315 finally last week, felt great, curls kinda weak though I only use 105 on the str8 bar 3x10

Bench 170. Rediculous really. Its not how much you bench its how much you look you bench. + My front delts are way over developed from heavy benching and they are pushed forward. Need more back work to pull the shoulders back.

I'm really really confused. In the weightlifting forum on EF, nobody trains the way you big guys train. Some of you guys don't bench at all? I don't understand I guess how you can get away with that. I've tried training like a bodybuilder, but what works for me and pushes my weight up is training in between a bodybuilder & a powerlifter. When my strength goes up, my weight goes up. I've never seen it happen any other way for me but then again I'm sure most of you big guys aren't extreme ectomorphs :( Maybe they are lying to me in the weightlifting forum? If anybody can send me their routine that includes not benching I'd like to look at it. At any rate..................I'm 179, 9.5%, 275 bench, 345x4 squat, 365x5 deadlift.

yesterday i successfully deadlifted 295 and squeezed out 3 total reps
my squat is 315 *5 as of today (parallell, not atf)
bodyweight 147 :chomp:

I don't flat bench either, but I hit the dumbells at 110's max x6
as for curls I always do suicides starting at 50's I do 3 sets of 4's

You don't care if you get weaker?

I like looking good but if I'm not getting stronger I have to change what I'm doing. Of course their are those plateaus but hell I couldn't get motivated to workout if I was getting weaker.

BTW - I'm not saying you're wrong for feeling that way just pointing out how different things motivate different people.

As far as the squat press goes I wasn't bashing you for that either just saying you may get more on some machines and less on others. :coffee:

I'm finally strong enough to pick up my brother and put him in the car so we could move him for Christmas dinner with the family. That's when I felt the strongest in my life.

I'm now 233 and pressed 325 on flat and at the very end of my cycle pressed 315 incline. I usually curl 50's but I've always thought my arms were weak.

Weight 210, benching round 315 naturally and squatin round 415, started a my first cycle this week so eatin the weight and watchin tha strength sky rocket.

o bro, i didnt take it as a bash at all. i agree, different things motivate different people. to be realistic, yes i like when im overcoming a plateau, but if i had to choose between gaining strength and gaining muscle. i'd pick muscle. its tru too, most machienes are different from eachother, i just know the machienes in my gym, so i kinda know what i do on what.
