Will, I hope you are soaking in all this great info.
Here is a site to find out your BMR. http://michaelandkendra.com/BMRCALC/bmrcalc.htm
The total calories that you burn per day. Both the cutting and bulking programs will tell you how much you burn per day. With advice on caloric intake to achieve bulk or cut. I have found, after keeping track of my cals and how my body responds, to be fairly accurate.
Some other pointers about diet, drink plenty of water. At least a gallon, but aim for 1.5-2 per day. You will be surprised the first day after drinking a lot of water. I can really tell a dif in definition after drinking a gallon of h2o. But I retain water easily.
Eat healthy fats, all natural peanut butter, almonds, pecans etc.
A lot of good people recommend starting cals at a ratio of 40% 30% 30%. Protein-carb-fat. It is a good starting point. Find how your body responds and you can mess with the ratios to find what works for you.
Plenty of good people around willing to help. Visit the diet board for more info. Good luck and keep us posted.
