who said anything about preventing the time with the kids? Thats part of the job. Coloring, singing, dancing, teaching them to write in language that is not spoken at home, non-stop talking....
yeah I incorrectly focused
but my point remains the same
and I've heard it
and I have a house

your point was that man and women are equal, right? I didnt try to dispute that. Whoever takes care of the kids, more power to them. We are all equally capable

Well, I am self-employed and I was able to arrange with my supervisors to pretty much take care of everything for me while I took care of my kids.

I was at a point in my life that I had done pretty well and I could take time off from work and spend it with my kids. My wife is a teacher so she couldn't really take time off so it was me.

We had a nanny for four years that took care of everything at home while we worked. She up and quit one day and left us without any other option. Hard to find someone you trust with your kids on short notice so I decided to do it.

It was the toughest thing I have ever done willingly. Get the kids up and fed and dressed and take them to school and preschool. Pick them up from school. Grocery shop, clean the house, pick up laundry, wash clothes, fold clothes. Help the kids study, give them baths put them in bed. Geesh! It was rough!

During the day I found plenty to do around the house. There was always something to do. I did yardwork too. My wife helped when she could but she was teaching during the day and taking some extended classes to further her credentials and get higher pay at school.

Also, a couple of years ago my wife had surgery on both her feet. She had real bad painful bunions and had them both operated on and was off her feet for 6 weeks. That was another rough time period. I was tending to the kids and their needs and my wife also. I felt like I was being tugged at in a hundred different directions.

Now when I meet new couples or new neighbors, I never ask the wife, do you work! I always ask, do you work outside the house. It's a very tough profession and one I have the utmost respect for.

wow....you did all that.....I have even more respect for you now, cause you did all these socially labeled as womens things and took care of your wife. I bet by teh end of the day if someone asked you to go get them a cup of water you felt like blowing up....lol....thats how iI feel when my husband is at home - tugged at in 1000s different directions
