Do you actually have to feel the needle in the muscle to be sure of inject success?

Usually with my glute injects, I feel it going deep into the muscle...but today I stuck myself and felt NOTHING. It was in the same upper outer quadrant as usual, with a 21g x 1 1/2". Does this happen sometimes? If it doesnt feel like it has gone all the way deep into the glute, should I jab again until I feel it go in (meaning feeling a tiny bit of pain or tenderness)? Karma for help, thanks.

i think watching it go in would be evidence of it actually going in.
i dont know how you wouldnt feel a 21 g though ??

I've never considered pain a criterion on which to judge a successful injection, so your question kind of baffles me.

Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I don't. End of story.

I dunno bro, but actually when I had sust redijects (which are 20g), I had this sensation once or twice. I think maybe there is some parts of the glute that don't feel much in the way of pain... Don't get me wrong though, MOST times I do feel the needle in the muscle, just not all the time.

I think alot of the time it would be hard to "feel", especially when the muscle since the muscle being injected into is unflexed. Like I inject with a 23g x 1.5" needle, I stick it in very deeply and leave about 1/2 an inch or so, I am pretty sure its being injected properly. Plus even if one were to inject into adipose tissue, it would still absorb, albeit a bit slower.

Your ass doesn't have that many nerves, so it is possible that you stuck it in a place that has very few nerves and as a result didn't feel it.

if you have stuck the needle all the way in then it is in

nothing else to it:rolleyes:

I hit a vein or a nerve in my glute the other day. It started going in very easily like usual. Then all of a sudden it didn't want to go any deeper. But I kept pushing anyway and it hurt like a sonofabitch then bled like a mofo. I almost thought I hit an organ like my spleen or something lol. It's still very tender three days later.
