I found out the night it happened last Wednesday and I've never been so shocked and saddened from hearing about somebody famous I looked up to dying. Nobody deserves to have something like this happen to them or there loved ones. I feel especially sorry for Vinny Paul who no longer has his brother and best friend with him anymore. I wish his friends and family the best.

Act of violence -- mmm... yeah.

Random -- shooting and killing onstage musicians, shooting and killing security, and shooting into a random crowd of hundreds of people of all age, gender, and race.

Seems a pretty random act of violence to me, history notwithstanding.

It wasn't a random shooting, it was planned. The shooter had a grudge against DIme because of the pantera breakup, and blamed him for it. That is whay he did what he did. Eyewitnesses has explained that he shouted at dime before shooting, and he was screaming about Dime ruining pantera.

But the guy didn't plan to kill that specific security guard. Or the other people besides Dimebag. Those people were killed at random -- wrong place at the wrong time. That's why I would consider the event as a whole as a random act of violence.
