I posted this in C&C as well.

Mad gunman got up on stage tonight in Columbus, OH during Damage Plan's set and opened fire -- Dimebag is dead, Vinnie Paul is in the hospital. Others are dead, including several from the audience. When the police got there, the gunman apparently took a hostage.

This is the preliminary... the news just hit the AM news stations around Milwaukee. This will be all over the media tomorrow.

No, this is not a joke.

damn that sux. =/

He was a true inspiration, and he is the reason I recently started to learn how to play the guitar. A true guitargod, and I actually shed a tear when I heard of this. To me this was as tough as it was for millions of fans when Elvis died.

It's a shame that musicians aren't safe in what probably is there favorite place to be, onstage performing.

Just goes to show how many fucked up people live in the world today.

I found out the night it happened last Wednesday and I've never been so shocked and saddened from hearing about somebody famous I looked up to dying. Nobody deserves to have something like this happen to them or there loved ones. I feel especially sorry for Vinny Paul who no longer has his brother and best friend with him anymore. I wish his friends and family the best.

:rose: RIP Dimebag Darrell :rose:
Those of us that were fans will miss you and love you forever.
drink some coldies, smoke some green, and rock the otherside like never before!

Act of violence -- mmm... yeah.

Random -- shooting and killing onstage musicians, shooting and killing security, and shooting into a random crowd of hundreds of people of all age, gender, and race.

Seems a pretty random act of violence to me, history notwithstanding.

It wasn't a random shooting, it was planned. The shooter had a grudge against DIme because of the pantera breakup, and blamed him for it. That is whay he did what he did. Eyewitnesses has explained that he shouted at dime before shooting, and he was screaming about Dime ruining pantera.

But the guy didn't plan to kill that specific security guard. Or the other people besides Dimebag. Those people were killed at random -- wrong place at the wrong time. That's why I would consider the event as a whole as a random act of violence.

I see where you guys are coming from as well.
